Teenage Engineering Computer-1 mini-ITX PC Case Instruction Manual
Model: TE030AS002
1. Overview
The Teenage Engineering Computer-1 is a modular, DIY mini-ITX PC case designed for enthusiasts and professionals seeking a compact and aesthetically unique computing solution. This chassis requires user assembly and is compatible with standard mini-ITX motherboards and SFX power supplies. Its design emphasizes a small desktop footprint while accommodating essential components.

2. Setup and Assembly
The Computer-1 case is provided as a flat-pack kit, requiring assembly. All necessary parts for the chassis construction are included. Computer components such as the motherboard, CPU, GPU, and power supply are sold separately and must be installed by the user.
2.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully unpack all components and verify against the included parts list. Inspect all aluminum sheets and hardware for any damage prior to assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact Teenage Engineering support.
2.2 Assembly Steps
Follow the detailed illustrated build guide provided with your kit. The assembly process involves bending the aluminum sheets along designated lines and securing them with the provided screws and fasteners. The chrome metal handles are installed on the top panel.

Important Considerations during Assembly:
- Bending: Apply even pressure when bending aluminum sheets to ensure clean folds and proper alignment.
- Screws: Use appropriate tools and avoid over-tightening screws to prevent stripping, especially with self-tapping screws.
- Component Installation: Install the motherboard, power supply, and other internal components after the case structure is largely complete, following the instructions for each component.
3. Component Compatibility and Installation
The Computer-1 case is designed for specific component sizes to maintain its compact form factor.
3.1 Motherboard
The case supports Mini-ITX motherboards only. Ensure your motherboard's dimensions are compatible with the internal mounting points.
3.2 Power Supply
Only SFX power supplies are compatible with the Computer-1. Install the power supply in the designated bottom-mount location.
3.3 Graphics Card (GPU)
The case supports dual-slot GPUs with a maximum length of approximately 7 inches (17.78 cm). Due to the compact design, verify your GPU's exact dimensions, including thickness, before installation. There is no dedicated screw hole for additional GPU stability at the rear, so ensure the GPU is securely seated in the PCIe slot.
3.4 CPU Cooler
The maximum CPU cooler height from the motherboard surface is 4.72 inches (12 cm). Air cooling is the primary method supported; standard 120mm AIO liquid coolers may not fit due to fan mounting limitations.
3.5 Storage Drives
The case includes provisions for 2.5-inch SATA drives and may accommodate a 3.5-inch HDD depending on cable management and other component clearances. Refer to the build guide for specific mounting locations.
3.6 Cable Management
Effective cable management is crucial for optimal airflow and ease of access within the compact interior. Utilize zip ties or Velcro straps to bundle and route cables away from critical components and airflow paths.

4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Computer-1 PC case.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior aluminum surfaces. For dust accumulation inside, use compressed air to clear vents and internal components. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
- Airflow: Periodically check that the ventilation holes are not obstructed to maintain proper airflow and cooling efficiency.
- Fasteners: Over time, screws may loosen. Periodically check and gently tighten any loose fasteners to maintain case rigidity.
5. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues that may arise during or after the assembly of your Computer-1 PC case.
5.1 Case Instability / Wobbling
If the assembled case feels wobbly, re-check all screw connections. Ensure that all panels are correctly aligned and securely fastened according to the build guide. The design relies on precise assembly for structural integrity.
5.2 Component Fit Issues
Graphics Card: If your GPU does not fit, double-check its dimensions against the specified 7-inch length limit and dual-slot thickness. Some GPU cooler designs may exceed the available space. There is no flexibility for larger cards beyond the stated specifications.
CPU Cooler: Ensure your CPU cooler's height does not exceed 4.72 inches (12 cm). Taller coolers will prevent the side panel from closing properly.
5.3 Stripped Screws
If a screw becomes stripped during assembly or disassembly, it may be difficult to remove or secure. Use appropriate tools and apply gentle, consistent pressure when tightening. If a screw is stripped, consider using a slightly larger M3 self-tapping screw as a replacement, if suitable, or consult with a hardware specialist.
