4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the brewer from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of shipping damage. Report any damage immediately to your supplier.

4.2 Placement

Place the brewer on a sturdy, level counter or table. Ensure there is adequate clearance around the unit for ventilation and access for operation and maintenance. Avoid placing near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

4.3 Water Connection

The CWTF15-APS is an automatic brewer and requires a plumbed cold water line connection. A qualified plumber should perform this installation to ensure compliance with local plumbing codes.

4.5 Initial Fill and Heating

  1. Ensure the water supply is connected and the shut-off valve is open.
  2. Turn the brewer's power switch to the 'ON' position. The tank will begin to fill automatically.
  3. Allow the tank to fill and heat the water. This process may take approximately 15-20 minutes for the first cycle. The 'READY' light will illuminate when the water is at the optimal brewing temperature.
  4. Dispense a few cups of hot water from the hot water faucet to flush the system and ensure proper heating. Discard this water.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Brewing Coffee (Automatic)

  1. Place an empty airpot on the drip tray beneath the brew funnel.
  2. Insert a BUNN coffee filter into the brew funnel.
  3. Add the desired amount of fresh, commercially ground coffee into the filter. Refer to your coffee supplier for recommended grind and quantity.
  4. Slide the brew funnel into the brewer until it is securely in place.
  5. Ensure the 'READY' light is illuminated. Press the 'START' button to initiate the brew cycle.
  6. The brewer will automatically dispense hot water over the coffee grounds. Once the cycle is complete, remove the brew funnel and discard the used grounds and filter.

5.2 Brewing Coffee (Pour-Over Backup)

In case of a water supply interruption, the brewer can be operated in pour-over mode:

  1. Follow steps 1-4 from the Automatic Brewing section.
  2. Manually pour the required amount of cold water (e.g., 64 oz for a full airpot) into the top opening of the brewer.
  3. The brew cycle will begin.

5.3 Using the Hot Water Faucet

To dispense hot water:

  1. Place a cup or container under the hot water faucet.
  2. Push the faucet handle to dispense hot water. Release to stop.
  3. Exercise caution as the water is very hot.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your BUNN brewer.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Exterior: Wipe down all exterior stainless steel surfaces with a damp cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Brew Funnel: Remove and wash the brew funnel after each use with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray regularly.
