6. Installation and Setup

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of your HRV unit. It is recommended to have the installation performed by a professional.

6.1. Site Selection

  • Choose a location on an exterior wall where the unit can be easily accessed for maintenance.
  • Ensure there is sufficient space around the unit for airflow and service.
  • Consider the unit's dimensions (Diameter: 105 mm, Tube length: 268 - 500 mm) for drilling the wall opening.

6.2. Wall Preparation

  • Drill a core hole of appropriate diameter (slightly larger than 105 mm) through the exterior wall.
  • Ensure the hole is slightly angled downwards towards the exterior to allow for condensation drainage.

6.3. Unit Assembly and Mounting

  • Insert the expandable PVC tube into the prepared wall opening. Adjust its length to match the wall thickness.
  • Install the outdoor grille on the exterior side of the wall, ensuring the mosquito net is properly positioned.
  • Mount the main unit's power supply board to the interior wall, aligning it with the PVC tube.
  • Connect the electrical wiring to the power supply board.
  • Insert the ceramic heat exchanger and dust filters into the tube from the interior side.
  • Attach the fan unit with the front panel to the magnetic power supply board. The magnetic attachment ensures instant electrical connection.

7. Operation

The Turbionaire Trend HRV unit is primarily controlled via the included remote control. Ensure the CR2032 battery is installed correctly in the remote.

7.1. Remote Control Functions

  • Power Button: Turns the unit ON or OFF.
  • Speed Control: Adjusts fan speed through 8 levels.
  • Mode Selection:
    • Intake - Extraction Mode (Reversible Airflow): The unit alternates between drawing fresh air in and expelling stale air out, utilizing the heat recovery function. This is the primary operating mode for continuous ventilation.
    • Extraction Mode: The unit continuously expels stale air from the room. Useful for rapid removal of odors or excess humidity.
    • AUTO Function: The unit automatically adjusts fan speed and mode based on the humidity sensor readings.
  • Timer Function: Sets the unit to operate for a specified duration before turning off.
  • Sleep Mode: Activates a low-speed, quiet operation for minimal disturbance during sleep.
  • LED Indicator Control: Adjusts the brightness of the unit's LED indicator.

7.2. Humidity Sensor Adjustment

The humidity sensor's sensitivity can be adjusted using a small dial located on the unit's main body (behind the front panel). Refer to Figure 5.1 for location. This allows you to set the desired humidity threshold for automatic operation.

8. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your Turbionaire Trend HRV unit.

8.1. Cleaning Filters

  • The unit is equipped with removable and washable dust filters.
  • Frequency: Clean filters every 1-3 months, or more frequently depending on air quality and usage.
  • Procedure:
    1. Disconnect power to the unit.
    2. Gently detach the front panel from the magnetic power supply board.
    3. Carefully remove the dust filters and ceramic heat exchanger from the tube.
    4. Wash the filters with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow them to air dry completely before reinstallation.
    5. Clean the ceramic heat exchanger by gently brushing off any dust or debris. Do not wash with water unless specified by manufacturer.
    6. Reinstall the ceramic heat exchanger and dry filters.
    7. Reattach the front panel, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

8.2. Exterior Cleaning

  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

9. Troubleshooting
