1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your WEN GN5602X 5600-Watt Portable Generator. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the generator to ensure proper use and to prevent injury or damage.
The WEN GN5602X is designed to provide reliable portable power with 5600 starting watts and 4500 running watts, featuring an electric start, 224cc engine, and a CO Shutdown Sensor for enhanced safety.
2. Safety Information
Operating a generator can be hazardous if safety precautions are not followed. Always prioritize safety to prevent serious injury or death.
2.1 Carbon Monoxide Hazard
Generators produce carbon monoxide (CO), an odorless, colorless, and poisonous gas. Exposure to CO can cause nausea, dizziness, weakness, and even death.
- NEVER operate the generator indoors, in garages, basements, crawlspaces, or other enclosed areas.
- Operate the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area, far from windows, doors, and vents.
- The WEN Watchdog CO Shutdown Sensor automatically turns off the generator if dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. Do not disable or tamper with this safety feature.
- Install battery-operated CO alarms in your home or RV.
2.2 Electrical Safety
- NEVER operate the generator in wet conditions, including rain or snow.
- Ensure all electrical connections are secure and properly grounded.
- Do not overload the generator. Refer to the specifications for maximum wattage.
- Use only approved extension cords that are rated for outdoor use and the load capacity.
2.3 Fire Hazard
- Gasoline is highly flammable. Store fuel in approved containers in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources.
- Do not refuel the generator while it is running or hot. Allow it to cool down completely before adding fuel.
- Avoid spilling fuel. If spills occur, clean them up immediately and ensure vapors dissipate before starting the generator.

4.3 Adding Engine Oil
The generator is shipped without engine oil. You must add the correct amount and type of oil before the first start.
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Using the provided funnel, slowly add 16.9 fl oz (0.5 liters) of SAE 10W-30 engine oil. Do not overfill.
- Reinsert the dipstick and check the oil level. It should be at the top of the dipstick's crosshatch area.
- Securely replace the oil fill cap/dipstick.
4.4 Adding Fuel
Use only fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
- Ensure the generator is turned off and cool.
- Remove the fuel cap.
- Slowly add gasoline to the fuel tank, being careful not to overfill. The tank capacity is 4.3 gallons.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Generator (Electric Start)
- Ensure the generator is on a level surface and in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
- Check oil and fuel levels.
- Ensure no electrical devices are connected to the outlets.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "ON" position.
- If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position.
- Press and hold the engine switch to the "START" position until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, slowly move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
- Allow the generator to run for a few minutes to warm up before connecting electrical loads.
5.2 Connecting Electrical Devices
