Your safety is paramount. Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or death. Always supervise children and non-swimmers. Ensure all local regulations regarding pool safety, fencing, and electrical connections are met.

  • Adult Supervision: Never leave children unattended in or around the pool.
  • No Diving: This is an above-ground pool. Do not dive or jump into the pool. Serious injury, paralysis, or death may result.
  • Electrical Safety: Ensure all electrical components (pump, filter) are connected to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet. Do not use extension cords.
  • Chemical Handling: Handle pool chemicals according to manufacturer's instructions. Store them in a secure, cool, dry place away from children and pets.
  • Pool Area: Keep the pool area clear of obstacles. Ensure adequate lighting for night use.
  • Ladder Safety: Always use the provided SureStep ladder for entry and exit. Remove the ladder when the pool is not in use to prevent unsupervised access.

4. Setup

Proper site preparation and assembly are crucial for the stability and longevity of your pool. Follow these steps carefully.

  1. Prepare the Site:

Choose a flat, firm, and level surface. Avoid sand or sharp objects. Position the pool 10-21 feet from the outlet for filtration systems. Ensure the ground is completely level to prevent uneven water distribution and stress on the pool frame.

  2. Assemble the Pool Frame:

Unfold the ground cloth and place it on the prepared site. Carefully unroll the pool liner over the ground cloth. Assemble the frame by connecting the poles and T-fittings using the SmartConnect technology. Ensure the liner is securely connected to the frame. The matte finish on the poles helps prevent rust, corrosion, and scratches.

  3. Add Water:

Once the frame and liner are assembled, add approximately one inch of water to the pool. Smooth out any wrinkles in the liner from the center outwards to ensure a taut and even surface. Continue filling the pool slowly, ensuring the frame remains stable and the liner settles correctly.

  4. Install the Filtration System:

Install the suction and return fittings, hoses, and the SFX1000 SkimmerPlus Filter Pump according to the pump's specific instructions. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks. The SkimmerPlus pump combines skimming and filtration functions for efficient water cleaning.

5. Operating

Operating your Funsicle pool involves managing the filtration system and maintaining water quality.

  • Filter Pump Operation: The SFX1000 SkimmerPlus Filter Pump is designed to circulate and filter the pool water. Run the pump for at least 8-12 hours daily, depending on usage and water clarity, to ensure proper filtration.
  • JetMaxx Aeration: The integrated JetMaxx Aeration feature enhances water circulation and aeration, contributing to cleaner and purer water. Ensure the return jet is unobstructed for optimal performance.
  • Water Level: Maintain the water level between the minimum and maximum fill lines indicated on the pool liner. Too low a level can damage the pump, while too high a level can cause overflow.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential to keep your pool clean, safe, and extend its lifespan.

6.1 Water Chemistry

  • Testing: Test chlorine, pH, and alkalinity 2-3 times per week during heavy use, and 1-2 times per week during lighter use. Use a reliable test kit or strips.
  • Target Levels:
    • Free Chlorine: 2-4 ppm
    • pH: 7.2-7.6
    • Total Alkalinity: 80-120 ppm
    • Cyanuric Acid: 30-50 ppm (check monthly)
    • Calcium Hardness: 200-400 ppm (check monthly or seasonally)
  • Sanitizer and Shock: Add chlorine (liquid, tablets, or granular) daily or as needed. Shock weekly with a chlorine-based or non-chlorine shock to eliminate contaminants.

6.2 Filtration and Cleaning

  • Filter Cartridge: Clean the Type C filter cartridge regularly (e.g., weekly) by rinsing it with a hose. Replace the cartridge every 2-4 weeks, or more frequently with heavy use.
  • Skimming: Use the SkimmerPlus pump's skimmer basket to regularly remove leaves, insects, and other large debris. Empty the basket as needed.
  • Vacuuming: Use the Deluxe Maintenance Kit to vacuum the pool floor weekly to remove settled debris.
  • Brushing: Brush the pool walls and floor regularly to prevent algae buildup.
  • Pool Cover: Use the included pool cover when the pool is not in use to keep out debris and reduce water evaporation.

6.3 Winterizing (for Freezing Climates)

If you live in a climate with freezing temperatures, proper winterization is critical to prevent damage to your pool.

  1. Balance water chemistry.
  2. Add a winterizing chemical kit (algaecide, sequestering agent, shock).
  3. Lower the water level below the skimmer and return jets.
  4. Disconnect and store the pump, filter, and hoses indoors after draining all lines.
  5. Install a winter cover securely.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Water is cloudy or greenInsufficient filtration, improper chemical balance, algae growthRun pump longer (10-12 hours/day), backwash/clean filter, test and adjust chemicals (chlorine, pH, alkalinity), shock the pool, add algaecide.
