4.1 Bench Mounting

For stable and safe operation, the double grinder should be securely mounted to a workbench. Use appropriate bolts and nuts (not always included) to fasten the grinder through the mounting holes in its base.

4.2 Installing Spark Protection Glasses and Work Rests

  1. Attach the spark protection glasses to the designated brackets above each grinding wheel. Ensure they are securely fastened and positioned to protect your eyes from sparks and debris.
  2. Install the work rests in front of each grinding wheel. Adjust their position so that the gap between the work rest and the grinding wheel is no more than 2 mm. This gap should be maintained as the wheel wears down. The work rests are tool-free adjustable.

  • To turn off the grinder, press the OFF (O) switch.
  • Allow the grinding wheels to reach full speed before beginning work.

5.2 Grinding Techniques

The PDOS 200 C2 features two grinding wheels:

  • Coarse Grinding Wheel (Grit 36): Use for rapid material removal, shaping, and initial sharpening of dull tools.
  • Fine Grinding Wheel (Grit 80): Use for finishing, fine sharpening, and deburring.

When grinding:

  1. Always wear appropriate PPE.
  2. Hold the workpiece firmly against the work rest.
  3. Apply light, even pressure. Excessive pressure can damage the wheel or motor.
  4. Move the workpiece across the face of the wheel to ensure even wear.
  5. Avoid grinding on the side of the wheel, as this can cause the wheel to break.
  6. For sharpening, maintain a consistent angle against the wheel.
  7. Allow the workpiece to cool periodically to prevent overheating and damage to the material.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your grinder.

  • Cleaning: Disconnect from power. Use a brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from the motor housing and around the wheels.
  • Wheel Inspection: Regularly inspect grinding wheels for cracks, chips, or excessive wear. Replace damaged or worn wheels immediately.
  • Work Rest Adjustment: Ensure the gap between the work rest and the grinding wheel remains at a maximum of 2 mm. Adjust as the wheel wears.
  • Spark Guard Inspection: Check spark protection glasses for cracks or excessive scratching that may impair visibility. Replace if necessary.
  • Motor: The induction motor is maintenance-free and does not require lubrication.
