The VGPF-1100 model is suitable for decorative ponds up to 1050 gallons and fish ponds up to 500 gallons, offering a maximum flow-through of 1050 GPH (4000 L/H).

Setup Guide

Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage during transit. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.

Installation

1. Choose Location: The filter can be installed on land or partially buried near your pond. Ensure it is easily accessible for maintenance. The pump (not included) should be placed in the pond.
2. Connect Inlet/Outlet: Select the appropriate size water pipe fittings (1-inch or 3/4-inch) for your hoses. Securely attach your pond pump's outlet hose to the filter's inlet port and the filter's outlet port to your desired water return (e.g., waterfall, pond return). Use the provided fixing nuts to ensure a tight seal.
3. Secure Hoses: Use hose clamps (not included) on all hose connections to prevent leaks.
4. Power Connection: Ensure the filter is correctly positioned and all connections are secure before plugging the unit into a grounded electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Initial Operation

Once installed and connected, plug in your pond pump (if separate) and then the filter unit. The filter will begin processing water. It may take several days for the pond water to become visibly clear, depending on its initial condition.

Function Switch

The filter features a multi-function switch on the top. This switch allows you to easily rotate and adjust the flow for normal filtration or to drain through both ports for cleaning or maintenance. Refer to the markings on the switch for 'CLEAN' and 'FILTER' positions.

Cleaning Indicator

The top of the lid includes a cleaning indicator. When the orange turbidity meter floats up, it indicates that the filter sponges require cleaning to maintain optimal performance.

Maintenance

Filter Sponge Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the filter sponges is crucial for maintaining water quality. The VIVOGROW filter offers a convenient cleaning mechanism:

1. Disconnect Power: Always unplug the filter unit and pump before cleaning.
2. Activate Cleaning: Turn the handle on top of the filter to activate the internal gears, which will clean the filter sponges.
3. Drain Dirty Water: Rotate the function switch to the 'CLEAN' position to drain the dirty water from the filter.
4. Rinse: Continue turning the handle and draining until the water runs clear.
5. Resume Operation: Once clean, return the function switch to the 'FILTER' position and reconnect power.

UV Lamp Maintenance

The built-in UV lamp purifies water as it passes through. The UV lamp has a limited lifespan and will need replacement periodically (typically every 8-12 months of continuous use). Refer to the product specifications for the correct replacement lamp type (13W UV-C). Disconnect power and follow the instructions for accessing and replacing the UV lamp, ensuring proper sealing upon reassembly.
