3. Operating Your Scale

3.1 Taking a Weight Measurement

To obtain an accurate weight reading:

  1. Place the scale on a hard, flat surface. Avoid carpets or uneven flooring.
  2. Gently step onto the scale with bare feet. Ensure your feet are positioned on the silver pads for body composition analysis.
  3. Stand still until your weight is displayed and stabilizes. The scale will beep to indicate a final reading.
  4. Step off the scale. The display will cycle through your body composition metrics.

3.2 Body Composition Analysis

For body composition measurements (BMI, body fat, lean mass, water weight, bone mass), it is crucial to step onto the scale with bare feet, ensuring direct contact with the four silver electrode pads. The scale uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to estimate these metrics.

4. Understanding Your Measurements

The Greater Goods Body Fat Scale provides several key health metrics to help you track your progress:

  • Weight: Your total body weight.
  • BMI (Body Mass Index): A measure that uses your height and weight to determine if you are a healthy weight.
  • Body Fat: The percentage of your total body weight that is fat.
  • Lean Mass: The total weight of your muscles, bones, organs, and water.
  • Water Weight: The percentage of your body composed of water.
  • Bone Mass: The weight of your bones.

It is important to focus on trends over time rather than daily fluctuations. Factors like hydration, recent meals, and exercise can cause minor daily variations. Consistent measurements under similar conditions will provide the most accurate representation of your progress.

5. Maintenance and Care

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your Greater Goods Body Fat Scale, follow these care guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the scale's glass surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store the scale in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures or high humidity.
  • Placement: Always use the scale on a hard, flat surface. Moving the scale or placing it on uneven surfaces can affect accuracy.
  • Avoid Impact: Do not drop the scale or subject it to strong impacts, as this can damage the sensors or glass.
