Product Overview
The Leupold RX-1400i TBR/W Gen 2 w/Flightpath is a versatile and feature-rich rangefinder designed for hunting and shooting applications. It incorporates a proprietary ranging engine for fast and accurate measurements, along with a bright red display for optimal readability in various lighting conditions. This device provides ballistically calculated ranges for extreme uphill and downhill shots, enhancing accuracy for users.
Key Features
- Model #183727 - RX-1400i TBR/W Gen 2 w/Flightpath.
- True Ballistic Range / Wind (TBR/W) technology provides ballistically calculated ranges for accurate shots at longer distances and steeper angles. It can also generate a hold point for a 10-mph wind at a 90-degree angle out to 800 yards.
- Selectable Bow mode with Flightpath technology allows users to identify potential arrow obstructions and calculates angle-compensated ranges specifically for archers.
- Boasts 1,400-yard ranging distance on reflective objects and 1,200 yards on trees.
- Selectable TOLED displays use bright red numbers and letters and have adjustable brightness settings to optimize readability in changing light conditions.

Setup
Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the device.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert one CR2 3V Lithium Manganese Dioxide battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Securely close the battery compartment cover.
The device comes with one CR2 battery included.
Initial Power On and Focus Adjustment
- Press the POWER button located on the top of the rangefinder to turn it on.
- Look through the eyepiece. If the display is not clear, rotate the eyepiece to adjust the focus until the reticle and readings appear sharp.
Operating Instructions
Basic Ranging
- Turn on the rangefinder by pressing the POWER button.
- Aim the reticle at your desired target.
- Press and release the POWER button to obtain a range reading. The distance will be displayed on the TOLED screen.
Understanding TBR/W Technology
True Ballistic Range / Wind (TBR/W) technology provides accurate ballistic solutions by accounting for incline, decline, and wind. This feature calculates an equivalent horizontal range to the target, which is crucial for precise shot placement, especially at varying elevations.

Using Flightpath Technology (Bow Mode)
The Flightpath technology, available in Bow mode, helps archers determine if their arrow will clear potential obstructions between them and the target. It provides an intuitive visual representation to assist in shot planning.
- Enter Bow mode by pressing the MODE button until "BOW" is displayed.
- Aim at your target and activate the rangefinder.
- The display will show the angle-compensated range and indicate if any obstructions are detected along the arrow's flight path.

TOLED Display and Reticle Selection
The TOLED (Transparent Organic Light Emitting Diode) display offers bright, clear readings. You can select from various reticle options to suit your preference and application.
- With the device on, press and hold the MODE button to enter the menu.
- Navigate through the options using the MODE button.
- Select the desired reticle (e.g., Plus Point, Horizon Reticle with Plus Point, Horizon Reticle without Plus Point) and brightness settings.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Optics
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth (such as the included lens cloth) to gently wipe the lenses.
- For stubborn smudges or dirt, use a lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optics. Apply the solution to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
- Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the lens coatings.
General Care
- Store the rangefinder in its soft case when not in use to protect it from dust and scratches.
- Keep the device dry. While it has an IP54 rating for water resistance, prolonged exposure to moisture should be avoided.
- Avoid extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Dead or incorrectly installed battery. | Check battery polarity. Replace battery if necessary. |
| Inaccurate range readings. | Obstruction in line of sight, dirty lens, or target too close/far. | Ensure clear line of sight. Clean lenses. Verify target is within specified ranging limits (1400 yards reflective, 1200 yards trees). |
| Display is dim or difficult to read. | Brightness setting too low or low battery. | Adjust display brightness settings. Replace battery if needed. |
