deleyCON 8-Port CAT 8 Patch Panel Kit

Model: MK8808 | Brand: deleyCON

1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the deleyCON 8-Port CAT 8 Patch Panel Kit. This kit is designed for reliable data transmission in network environments, supporting speeds up to 40 Gbit/s and frequencies up to 2000 MHz. It is compatible with CAT7 and CAT8 installation cables and is suitable for 10-inch rack mounting.

The kit includes a modular 8-port patch panel, 8 shielded CAT 8 Keystone modules, cable ties, and cage nuts for installation.

2. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your deleyCON 8-Port CAT 8 Patch Panel Kit.

2.1 Unpacking and Component Overview

Carefully unpack all components and verify that all parts are present:

  • 1x 8-Port Patch Panel (1U, 10-inch rack mountable)
  • 8x CAT 8 Keystone Modules
  • Cable Ties
  • Cage Nuts and Screws for rack mounting

2.2 Keystone Module Installation

The CAT 8 Keystone modules feature tool-free installation. Each module has an RJ45 socket on one side and an LSA+ IDC 8-pole terminal for rigid installation cables (AWG 22-25) on the other.

  1. Prepare the Cable: Strip the outer jacket of your CAT7 or CAT8 installation cable to expose the twisted pairs. Untwist the pairs and straighten the individual conductors.
  2. Wire the Keystone Module: Open the Keystone module. The module is marked with T568A and T568B wiring schemes. Carefully insert each conductor into the corresponding slot on the LSA+ IDC terminal according to your chosen wiring standard. Ensure the cables are cut flush for proper contact.
  3. Close the Module: Close the Keystone module. The conductors will be automatically pressed onto the LSA strip, establishing the connection.

2.3 Mounting Keystone Modules into the Patch Panel

Once the Keystone modules are wired, they can be easily snapped into the patch panel.

  1. Align the Keystone module with an empty port on the patch panel.
  2. Gently push the module into the port until it clicks securely into place.
  3. Repeat for all 8 Keystone modules.

2.4 Rack Mounting and Cable Management

The patch panel is designed for 10-inch rack mounting.

  1. Secure the patch panel to your 10-inch network rack using the provided cage nuts and screws.
  2. Utilize the included cable ties to secure the installation cables to the cable management bar at the rear of the patch panel. This provides strain relief and maintains an organized setup.
  3. Connect the central grounding terminal of the patch panel to the rack's grounding system for optimal shielding and safety.

3. Operating Instructions

Once the patch panel is installed and wired, it is ready for operation.

  1. Connect Patch Cords: Insert standard RJ45 patch cords into the front RJ45 sockets of the Keystone modules. These patch cords will connect your network devices (e.g., switches, computers, servers) to the patch panel.
  2. Labeling: Utilize the labeling areas on the patch panel to clearly identify each port's connection. This aids in network management and troubleshooting.
  3. Network Functionality: The patch panel facilitates flexible network connections, allowing for easy patching, extension, or reorganization of network segments.

4. Maintenance

The deleyCON 8-Port CAT 8 Patch Panel is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Keep the patch panel and its ports clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid liquid cleaners directly on the ports.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all cable connections for secure fit and any signs of damage.
  • Module Durability: The robust, reusable die-cast zinc module housing ensures long-term reliability.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your network connections through the patch panel, consider the following:

  • No Network Connection:
    • Verify that all patch cords are securely connected at both ends (device to patch panel, and patch panel to switch/router).
    • Check the wiring of the Keystone modules. Ensure all conductors are correctly seated in the LSA+ IDC terminals and cut flush. Incorrect termination is a common cause of connection issues.
    • Test the individual network cables and patch cords for continuity using a cable tester.
    • Ensure the central grounding terminal is properly connected to the rack's ground.
  • Slow Network Speed:
    • Confirm that all components in your network chain (cables, switches, network cards) support CAT 8 or at least CAT 7 standards to achieve the desired speed.
    • Check for excessive cable bends or damage that could degrade signal quality.
    • Ensure proper shielding is maintained throughout the cable run and connections.
