2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety warnings and operating instructions before using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the device.
General Safety Precautions:
- Laser Safety: This device uses a Class 2 laser. Do not stare directly into the laser beam or point it at people or animals. Direct eye exposure can cause eye damage.
- Non-Contact Measurement: The infrared thermometer measures surface temperature only. It is not designed for measuring human body temperature.
- Meat Thermometer: The probe thermometer is for internal temperature measurement of food and liquids. Ensure the probe is clean before and after each use.
- Operating Environment: Do not use the device in environments with explosive gas, vapor, or dust.
- Maintenance: Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Refer to the maintenance section or contact customer support.
- Batteries: Use only the specified battery type. Ensure correct polarity when installing. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The Eventek GM9053E requires two AAA batteries for operation. Batteries are included with the product.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the handle of the infrared thermometer.
- Gently slide or open the battery cover.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Infrared Thermometer Gun
- Power On: Press the trigger to power on the device. The LCD display will illuminate.
- Taking a Measurement: Point the laser at the target surface. Press and hold the trigger. The laser will activate, and the real-time surface temperature will be displayed. Release the trigger to hold the reading (Data Hold).
- Unit Conversion (°C/°F): Press the 'C/F' button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit units.
- Adjusting Emissivity (EMS): Emissivity (ε) is the efficiency with which an object emits thermal energy. Different materials have different emissivity values. For accurate readings, adjust the emissivity to match the target material.
Press the 'MODE' button until 'EMS' appears on the display. Use the up/down arrow buttons to adjust the value from 0.1 to 1.0. Refer to the emissivity table in Section 4.3 for common materials.

- Distance-to-Spot Ratio (D:S): The GM9053E has a D:S ratio of 12:1. This means that at a distance of 12 inches, the measurement spot size is 1 inch. To ensure accurate readings, make sure the target object completely fills the measurement spot. For best accuracy, maintain an approximate distance of 7.87 inches (20 cm) from the test object.

4.2 Meat Thermometer
The included 304 stainless steel probe thermometer is used for measuring the internal temperature of food and liquids.
- Power On/Off: Press the 'On/Off' button to activate or deactivate the thermometer.
- Taking a Measurement: Carefully insert the stainless steel probe into the center of the food or liquid you wish to measure. Ensure the probe is deep enough to get an accurate internal reading, avoiding bones or fat pockets in meat.
- Reading Temperature: The temperature will be displayed on the LED screen. Allow a few seconds for the reading to stabilize.
- Unit Switch: Press the '°C/°F Switching' button to change between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
- Locking Function: Some models may have a locking function to hold the displayed temperature.
- View Max/Min Value: Press the 'View Max/Min Value' button to cycle through maximum and minimum recorded temperatures.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Infrared Thermometer: Wipe the device clean with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water. Keep the lens clean for accurate readings.
- Meat Thermometer: Clean the stainless steel probe with warm soapy water before and after each use. The main body of the meat thermometer should be wiped clean; do not immerse it in water.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the LCD display, replace the AAA batteries following the instructions in Section 3.1.
6.3 Storage
Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on:
Check if batteries are installed correctly with the right polarity. Replace batteries if they are depleted. - Inaccurate readings:
Ensure the emissivity setting matches the target material (refer to Section 4.3).
Verify the distance-to-spot ratio is appropriate for the target size (refer to Section 4.1).
Clean the infrared lens if it is dirty.
Ensure the target object completely fills the measurement spot.
Avoid measuring through glass or highly reflective surfaces. - Low battery indicator:
Replace the AAA batteries immediately. - Laser not visible:
Ensure the device is powered on and the trigger is pressed. The laser is a targeting aid and may be less visible in bright light.
