Setup

1. Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
2. Open the battery compartment cover.

2. Initial Power On

Press and hold the power button (located on the side) until the device screen illuminates. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as language selection.

3. Pairing with Garmin Explore App

For full functionality, pair your eTrex SE with the Garmin Explore app on your compatible smartphone via Bluetooth. This enables wireless software updates, trip planning, Active Weather, smart notifications, and cloud storage for your data.

4. USB Connectivity

The device features a USB-C connector for data transfer and potential charging of rechargeable AA batteries (if used). To access the USB port, you may need to remove the back cover, which helps maintain the device's water resistance.

Operating the Device

Basic Navigation

The eTrex SE allows you to view waypoints, track your current location, and navigate back to saved spots. Use the side buttons to scroll through menus and select options. The device automatically starts tracking when powered on.

Digital Compass

Maintenance

Water Resistance

The eTrex SE is rated to IPX7, meaning it can withstand incidental exposure to water of up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Ensure the battery compartment cover and any port covers are securely closed to maintain water resistance.

Battery Care

To maximize battery life, use high-quality AA batteries. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period. The device offers up to 168 hours in standard mode and up to 1,800 hours in expedition mode.

Cleaning

Clean the device with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the screen or casing.

Troubleshooting
