ARCTIC ACFAN00275A

ARCTIC P12 Slim PWM PST (3 Pack) PC Fans Instruction Manual

Model: ACFAN00275A

Product Overview

The ARCTIC P12 Slim PWM PST fans are pressure-optimized 120mm case fans designed for efficient cooling in compact spaces. They feature PWM Sharing Technology (PST) for synchronized fan speed control and a quiet motor for minimal noise.

Key Features

  • OPTIMISED FOR STATIC PRESSURE: Through high static pressure, the fan guarantees efficient cooling, even with increased air resistance. Suitable for use on heat sinks and radiators.
  • STRONG COOLING PERFORMANCE: The performance of the P fans has been noticeably increased through numerous improvements, including upgraded engine technology and a newly developed fan design.
  • 300 TO 2100 RPM: Thanks to the 4-pin connector, the fan speed can be controlled via PWM PST. This keeps noise to a minimum while at the same time ensuring maximum cooling performance.
  • LOW INSTALLATION HEIGHT: The P12 Slim PWM PST has an installation height of only 15 mm, making it suitable for small form factor cases & for installations for which a 25 mm fan does not fit.
  • TECHNICAL DATA: 3 Pack, Fan speed: 300–2100 rpm (0 rpm <5 %), Airflow: 42.10 cfm | 71.53 m³/h, Noise Level: 0.3 Sone, Static pressure: 1.45 mmH₂O, Pin: 4-pin.

Installation Steps

  1. Prepare Your System: Ensure your computer is powered off and unplugged. Open your PC case to access the fan mounting locations.
  2. Identify Mounting Location: The P12 Slim fans are ideal for tight spaces, such as slim cases, radiators, or areas with limited clearance (e.g., below a GPU).Comparison of P12 Slim PWM PST (15mm) and P12 PWM PST (25mm) fan thickness.

  3. Mount the Fan:
    • For case mounting: Align the fan with the desired mounting holes on your PC case. Use the shorter mounting screws provided to secure the fan.
    • For radiator mounting: If attaching to a radiator, use the longer radiator screws provided. Ensure the fan is oriented to push or pull air in the desired direction (indicated by arrows on the fan frame).
  4. Connect the Fans (PWM PST): The fans feature PWM Sharing Technology (PST), allowing multiple fans to be connected in series to a single motherboard fan header.
    • Connect the 4-pin PWM cable from the first fan to a motherboard fan header.
    • Connect the 4-pin male connector from the first fan to the 4-pin female connector of the second fan. Repeat for additional fans (up to four fans can be daisy-chained).

  5. Cable Management: Route the fan cables neatly to avoid obstructing airflow or other components.
  6. Close Case and Power On: Once all fans are securely mounted and connected, close your PC case and power on your system.

Operating Instructions

The ARCTIC P12 Slim PWM PST fans are controlled via Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), allowing your motherboard to dynamically adjust fan speed based on system temperature.

Fan Speed Control

  • Automatic Control (PWM): The fan speed will automatically adjust between 300 RPM and 2100 RPM based on the PWM signal from your motherboard. This ensures optimal cooling performance while minimizing noise.
  • 0dB Mode: When the PWM signal is below 5%, the fan will stop completely, providing silent operation during low-load scenarios.

Airflow Direction

Ensure the fans are oriented correctly for optimal airflow within your case. Arrows on the fan frame indicate the direction of airflow and blade rotation.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your ARCTIC P12 Slim PWM PST fans.

Cleaning

  • Dust Removal: Periodically clean dust from the fan blades and frame using compressed air or a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the fan is powered off before cleaning.
  • Avoid Liquids: Do not use liquid cleaners directly on the fan or motor.

Bearing Longevity

The fans utilize a Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) for extended lifespan and quiet operation. No lubrication is required.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

  • Fan Not Spinning:
    • Check if the 4-pin PWM cable is securely connected to the motherboard header.
    • Ensure the motherboard BIOS settings are configured to provide power to the fan header.
    • If using 0dB mode, the fan may stop spinning at very low PWM signals (<5%). Increase system load or adjust fan curve in BIOS to test.
  • Excessive Noise:
    • Verify that the fan is securely mounted and not vibrating against the case or other components.
    • Check for any cables or obstructions hitting the fan blades.
    • Adjust the fan speed curve in your motherboard's BIOS to reduce RPMs during idle or low-load periods.
  • Poor Cooling Performance:
    • Ensure the fan is oriented correctly for optimal airflow (intake/exhaust).
    • Check for dust buildup on the fan blades or radiator fins, which can restrict airflow.
    • Consider adding more fans or optimizing overall case airflow.
