Setup

1. Power Source Installation

The CATIGA CP90A can be powered by either the included AC adapter or four AA batteries (not included).

  • AC Adapter: Connect the AC adapter to the power jack on the side of the calculator and plug it into a standard electrical outlet.
  • Batteries: Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the calculator. Insert four AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover securely.

2. Paper Roll Installation

To install a new paper roll:

  1. Open the paper roll cover located at the top rear of the calculator.
  2. Place the new paper roll into the compartment, ensuring the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll.
  3. Feed the leading edge of the paper through the printer slot until it emerges from the front.
  4. Close the paper roll cover. Use the FEED button to advance the paper if needed.

3. Ink Roller Installation/Replacement

The calculator uses an IR-40T standard ink roller. To replace it:

  1. Ensure the calculator is turned off.
  2. Gently lift the printer cover.
  3. Remove the old ink roller by pulling it upwards.
  4. Insert the new IR-40T ink roller, ensuring it clicks into place.
  5. Close the printer cover.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Operations (Adding Machine Logic)

The CATIGA CP90A operates as an adding machine, which differs from a standard calculator. All operations are treated as additions to a running total. Subtraction is performed by adding a negative number.

  • Addition: Enter the first number, press [+]. Enter the second number, press [+]. The display shows the running total.
  • Subtraction: Enter the first number, press [+]. Enter the number to subtract, press [-]. The display shows the running total.
  • Subtotal: Press [*] to display and print the subtotal without clearing the running total.
  • Grand Total: Press [GT] to display and print the final total and clear the memory.

2. Special Functions

  • Tax Calculation: Use the [TAX+] and [TAX-] keys to add or subtract a pre-set tax rate. Refer to the full manual for setting the tax rate.
  • Cost/Sell/Margin: These keys allow for quick calculation of profit margins. Enter two of the three values (Cost, Sell, Margin) and press the third key to calculate the missing value.
  • Date & Time: Press the [Date/Time] button to print the current date and time on the tape. Refer to the full manual for setting the date and time.
  • Rounding Switch: Adjusts how calculations are rounded (e.g., up, down, or 5/4 rounding).
  • Decimal Switch: Sets the number of decimal places for calculations.
  • Backspace Memory: Corrects the last entered digit.
  • Percent Key: Performs percentage calculations.
  • Key Memory: Stores and recalls values from memory. Use [M+] to add to memory, [M-] to subtract from memory, [M*] to recall memory, and [M0] to clear memory.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

To maintain the calculator's appearance and functionality:

  • Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Keep the printer mechanism free of dust and paper debris.

2. Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the calculator in a cool, dry place. If using batteries, remove them to prevent leakage.
