5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Data Logger
The data logger can be started in two ways:
- Button Start: Press and hold the button on the device for approximately 3 seconds until the "REC" indicator flashes, confirming logging has begun.
- Software Start: If configured via software, the logger may start automatically upon connection or through a command from the ElitechLog software.
Once started, the device will begin recording temperature and humidity data at the pre-set logging interval (default: 12 minutes) after any configured start delay.
5.2 Monitoring Status
The LCD screen displays current temperature and humidity readings. The LED indicators provide quick status checks:
- Green LED: Indicates normal operation or no alarm.
- Red LED: Indicates an alarm condition (temperature or humidity outside set thresholds).
5.3 Stopping the Data Logger
The data logger can be stopped in three ways:
- Button Stop: Press and hold the button for approximately 3 seconds until the "STOP" indicator flashes, confirming logging has ceased.
- Software Stop: Connect the device to a computer and use the ElitechLog software to issue a stop command.
- Stop When Full: The logger will automatically stop recording once its memory capacity (16,000 points) is reached.
After stopping, the device will automatically generate a PDF report upon connection to a computer.
6. Data Retrieval and Report Generation
To retrieve recorded data and generate a report:
- Ensure the data logger has stopped recording (see Section 5.3).
- Remove the USB protective cover.
- Plug the data logger into a computer's USB port.
- The device will automatically appear as a removable drive. A PDF report containing the logged data will be automatically generated and saved to this drive.

- Battery: The device is battery-powered. As a single-use logger, battery replacement is not intended. Observe the shelf life indicated on the device.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not start logging. | Button not held long enough; device already started/stopped; battery depleted. | Ensure button is held for 3 seconds. Check LCD for status. If battery is depleted or shelf life expired, the device may not function. |
| No PDF report generated after connecting to PC. | Device not stopped; USB connection issue; computer driver issue. | Ensure logging is stopped. Try a different USB port. Check computer's device manager for driver issues. Restart computer. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Sensor obstruction; device placed in extreme conditions; device malfunction. | Ensure sensors are clear. Operate within specified temperature/humidity ranges. If issues persist, contact support. |
| LED indicator shows red (alarm). | Temperature or humidity exceeded set thresholds. | This indicates a recorded excursion. Review the PDF report for details. No action is required on the device itself unless you need to reconfigure alarm thresholds for future use. |
