4. Setup and Initial Preparation
4.1 Assembly
Your lawn mower may require some assembly upon unboxing. Follow the instructions provided in the separate assembly guide or the quick start guide for attaching the handle, grass collection box, and any other components. Ensure all bolts and fasteners are securely tightened.
4.2 Adding Engine Oil
Before first use, fill the engine with the appropriate amount of 4-stroke engine oil (SAE 30 or 10W-30, as specified in the engine manual). Do not overfill. Check the oil level regularly before each use.
4.3 Adding Fuel
Fill the fuel tank with unleaded petrol (minimum 95 RON). Do not use E85 or other ethanol blends not approved for small engines. Always refuel in a well-ventilated area and avoid spilling fuel.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Engine
- Ensure the spark plug wire is connected.
- Push the primer bulb (if equipped) 3-5 times until fuel is visible.
- Move the throttle lever to the "START" or "CHOKE" position.
- Pull the starter cord firmly until the engine starts.
- Once started, move the throttle lever to the "RUN" position.
5.2 Mowing Techniques
The MS225-56 offers multiple mowing options:
- Catching: Attach the 65 L grass collection box to collect clippings. Empty the box regularly to maintain optimal performance.
- Mulching: The mulching function finely chops grass clippings and returns them to the lawn as natural fertilizer. This is ideal for regular mowing of dry grass.
- Side Discharge: For taller grass or areas where collection is not necessary, attach the side discharge chute to eject clippings to the side.

5.3 Cutting Height Adjustment
The central cutting height adjustment allows you to easily select one of 7 positions, ranging from 25 mm to 75 mm. Adjust the height according to your lawn's condition and desired length.

6. Maintenance and Care
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lawn mower. Always turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
6.1 Cleaning
After each use, clean grass clippings from the underside of the deck, the grass box, and around the engine. The integrated "Easy Clean" function allows for quick cleaning by connecting a water hose.

Figure 6.1: Demonstrating the Easy Clean function. A hand is shown connecting a water hose to the mower's cleaning port for easy deck washing.
6.2 Blade Care
Regularly inspect the blade for sharpness and damage. A dull blade can tear grass, leading to an unhealthy lawn. Sharpen or replace the blade as needed. Always wear heavy-duty gloves when handling the blade.
6.3 Engine Maintenance
- Oil Change: Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 25-50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
- Air Filter: Clean or replace the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions, to ensure proper engine performance.
- Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the spark plug annually. Replace if worn or fouled.
6.4 Storage
For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank or use a fuel stabilizer. Clean the mower thoroughly, lubricate moving parts, and store it in a dry, protected area.
