4. Setup
Setting up your Intex Prism Frame Pool is designed to be straightforward, typically taking approximately 45 minutes to be ready for water. No tools are required for the main frame assembly due to the innovative T-Joint design.
4.1 Site Preparation
- Choose a firm, level surface free of sharp objects, debris, or loose soil.
- Ensure the area is large enough to accommodate the pool (16 ft diameter) plus additional space for circulation and access.
- Avoid setting up the pool under overhead power lines or near structures that could fall onto the pool.
- Ensure proper drainage away from the pool area.
4.2 Assembly
- Lay out the ground cloth on the prepared level surface.
- Unfold the pool liner on top of the ground cloth, ensuring the drain plug is positioned correctly for future draining.
- Assemble the metal frame components by connecting the horizontal beams and vertical legs using the T-joints. Refer to the detailed diagrams in the included manual for specific connections.
- Thread the frame components through the fabric sleeves on the pool liner.
- Once the frame is fully assembled and secured, ensure all connections are tight.
4.3 Filling the Pool
- Begin filling the pool with water. As the water level rises, gently smooth out any wrinkles in the bottom of the liner, working from the center outwards.
- Fill the pool to the recommended water depth of 42 inches, or approximately 90% capacity (5,061 gallons).
- Connect the filter pump hoses to the designated inlet and outlet fittings on the pool liner. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.

5. Operating
5.1 Filter Pump Operation
- Ensure the filter pump is connected to a grounded electrical outlet and positioned on a stable surface.
- Before starting the pump, ensure the pool is filled to the appropriate level and all air is purged from the system.
- Operate the filter pump daily for several hours to ensure proper water circulation and filtration. The exact duration depends on pool usage and water conditions.
- Regularly check the filter cartridge and clean or replace it as needed to maintain optimal filtration performance.
5.2 Hydro Aeration Technology
The Hydro Aeration Technology is integrated into the filter pump system and enhances water quality through several mechanisms:
- Improved Circulation and Filtration: Air is introduced into the water stream, aiding in the oxidation of iron and manganese, which are common causes of water discoloration.
- Improved Water Clarity: Fine particles in the water clump together, making them easier for the filter pump to remove, resulting in clearer water.
- Increased Negative Ions: The aeration process releases negative ions, which are known to improve air freshness around the pool.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for keeping your pool clean, safe, and extending its lifespan.
6.1 Water Chemistry
- Test pool water regularly (daily or every other day) for pH, chlorine, and alkalinity levels using a reliable test kit.
- Maintain pH levels between 7.2 and 7.6.
- Maintain free chlorine levels between 1-3 ppm.
- Adjust chemical levels as needed following the instructions on your pool chemical products.
6.2 Cleaning
- Skim debris from the water surface daily using a pool skimmer net.
- Brush the pool walls and floor weekly to prevent algae growth and loosen debris.
- Vacuum the pool floor as needed to remove settled debris.
- Clean or replace the filter cartridge every 2 weeks, or more frequently if the pump flow rate decreases significantly.
6.3 Winterization/Storage
- At the end of the swimming season, drain the pool completely using the drain plug.
- Clean and thoroughly dry the pool liner and all frame components before disassembling.
- Store all components in a dry, protected area, away from extreme temperatures and pests.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your pool set.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudy Water | Insufficient filtration; improper chemical balance; high organic load. | Run filter pump longer; backwash/clean filter; test and adjust chemicals; shock treat pool. |
| Pump Not Running | No power; clogged impeller; air lock. | Check power connection/breaker; unplug and inspect impeller; prime pump by bleeding air. |
| Water Leaking from Pool | Hose connections loose; small puncture in liner; drain plug not sealed. | Tighten hose clamps; use included repair patch kit for liner; ensure drain plug is securely closed. |
| Algae Growth | Low chlorine; poor circulation; high phosphates. | Shock treat pool; brush walls; ensure adequate filtration; use algaecide. |
