4. Setup
4.1 Fueling Instructions
The Palio Ballista lighter is shipped without fuel for safety reasons. It requires high-quality butane fuel for operation.
- Vent Lighter: Before refilling, hold the lighter upside down and use a small screwdriver or pen tip to press the refill valve to release any residual air from the tank. This ensures a complete fill.
- Refill: Hold the lighter upside down. Firmly press the nozzle of the butane fuel can into the lighter's refill valve. Hold for approximately 5-10 seconds. Repeat 2-3 times for a full fill.
- Wait: After refilling, wait at least 2-3 minutes before attempting to ignite the lighter. This allows the butane to stabilize and reach room temperature.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Ignition
To ignite the lighter, press the ignition button located on the top of the device. The jet flame will appear. Release the button to extinguish the flame.
5.2 Flame Adjustment
The flame height can be adjusted using the flame adjustment screw located on the bottom of the lighter. Use a small flathead screwdriver to turn the screw:
- Turn towards the (+) symbol for a larger flame.
- Turn towards the (-) symbol for a smaller flame.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Periodically clean the lighter's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the jet nozzles are clear of debris for optimal performance.
6.2 Storage
Store the lighter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure the lighter is fully extinguished before storage.
7. Troubleshooting
- Lighter does not ignite or flame is inconsistent:
- Low Fuel: Check the fuel level. If low, refill the lighter following the instructions in Section 4.1.
- Air in Tank: Ensure the lighter was properly vented before refilling. Air pockets can prevent proper fuel flow. Vent and refill again.
- Flame Adjustment: The flame adjustment may be set too low. Adjust the flame height as described in Section 5.2.
- Clogged Nozzle: Dust or debris may be blocking the jet nozzle. Gently clear any obstructions.
- Temperature: Butane performs best at room temperature. If the lighter is too cold, warm it gently in your hands before attempting to ignite.
- Lighter leaks fuel:
- Ensure the refill valve is securely closed after fueling.
- Avoid overfilling the lighter.
- If leakage persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
