1. Product Overview

The EBL PD4 is a versatile four-bay battery charger designed to charge a wide range of rechargeable batteries, including 3.6V/3.7V/3.85V Li-ion/IMR/INR/ICR, 3.2V LiFePO4, and 1.2V Ni-MH/Ni-CD batteries. It features advanced functions such as discharge, capacity testing, '0'V activation, and adjustable charging current, providing comprehensive battery management.

3. Battery Compatibility

The EBL PD4 charger is compatible with a wide range of rechargeable battery types and sizes:

4. Safety Information and Precautions

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage to the charger or batteries, please read and adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Use Compatible Batteries Only: Only charge battery types explicitly listed in the compatibility section. Attempting to charge incompatible batteries may result in damage or hazardous conditions.
  • Inspect Batteries: Before charging, visually inspect batteries for any signs of damage, such as tears in the wrapper, dents, or leaks. Do not charge damaged batteries.
  • Proper Polarity: Always insert batteries with the correct positive (+) and negative (-) polarity as indicated on the charger and battery. Incorrect insertion can cause short circuits or damage.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the charger is placed in a well-ventilated area during operation. Do not cover the charger.
  • Avoid Over-Discharging: While the charger has '0'V activation, severely over-discharged batteries may be unstable. Exercise caution.
  • Supervision: Do not leave the charger unattended, especially during the initial stages of charging or when using the discharge/test functions.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the charger in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and flammable materials.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the charger and batteries out of reach of children and pets.
  • Disposal: Dispose of batteries and the charger according to local regulations. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

Built-in Safety Protections:

The EBL PD4 charger incorporates multiple safety features to protect both the charger and your batteries:

  • Over-Charging Protection: Prevents batteries from being charged beyond their safe voltage limit.
  • Over-Current Protection: Safeguards against excessive current flow during charging.
  • Over-Voltage Protection: Protects against input voltage fluctuations.
  • Over-Heat Protection: Monitors internal temperature and adjusts charging or shuts down if overheating occurs.
  • Short-Circuit Protection: Automatically cuts off power in case of a short circuit.
  • Reverse Polarity Protection: Prevents damage if batteries are inserted incorrectly.

5. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the EBL PD4 charger and any included accessories from its packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the charger on a stable, flat, and well-ventilated surface, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials.
  3. Connect Power: Connect the provided USB cable to the Type-C input port on the back of the charger. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible USB power adapter (5V 2A, 5V 3A, or 9V 2.2A recommended, not included). The LCD screen will illuminate, indicating the charger is powered on.
  4. Initial Check: Observe the LCD screen. It should display standby information or prompt for battery insertion.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Charging Batteries

  1. Insert Batteries: Carefully insert one or more compatible rechargeable batteries into the charger slots, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -). The charger will automatically detect the battery type (Li-ion, LiFePO4, Ni-MH, Ni-CD) and display its current voltage and charging status on the LCD screen.
  2. Select Slot (Optional): Press the SLOT button to cycle through the individual battery slots (1, 2, 3, 4) to view their specific charging information.
  3. Adjust Charging Current (Optional): For channels 1 and 4, you can adjust the charging current. With a battery inserted, press the MODE button to cycle through available current options (e.g., 500mA, 1000mA, 2000mA). The charger will automatically select an appropriate current if not manually set.
  4. Monitor Charging: The LCD screen will display real-time charging progress, including input voltage, battery voltage, battery type, charging current, charging capacity (mAh), and battery power percentage.
  5. Charging Completion: Once charging is complete, the LCD screen will indicate "FULL" or 100%. Remove the batteries from the charger.

6.2 Discharge Function (Channel 4 Only)

The discharge function helps reduce battery memory effect, particularly for Ni-MH/Ni-CD batteries, potentially extending their lifespan. This function is available only in Channel 4.

  1. Insert a battery into Channel 4.
  2. Press the MODE button until "DISCHG" (Discharge) is displayed on the LCD screen for Channel 4.
  3. The charger will begin discharging the battery. Once discharged, it will automatically switch to charging mode.

6.3 Capacity Test Function (Channel 4 Only)

The capacity test function allows you to determine the actual capacity of your battery. This function is available only in Channel 4.

  1. Insert a battery into Channel 4.
  2. Press the MODE button until "TEST" is displayed on the LCD screen for Channel 4.
  3. The charger will perform a charge-discharge-charge cycle. After the cycle, the measured capacity (mAh) will be displayed on the screen.

6.4 '0'V Activation Function

The charger can attempt to reactivate over-discharged lithium batteries (Li-ion/LiFePO4) that have a protection board. When such a battery is inserted, the charger will automatically try to activate it before initiating the regular charging process.

6.5 Auto-Cut Off Function

The charger features an auto-cut off function to prevent overcharging and ensure battery longevity. It has a maximum charging time limit:

  • Lithium Batteries: 15 hours
  • Ni-MH Batteries: 9 hours

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the charger in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid Liquids: Do not expose the charger to water or other liquids.
  • Handle with Care: Avoid dropping or subjecting the charger to strong impacts.

8. Troubleshooting
