5. Setup
5.1 Power Connection
The M182 DB can be powered by either AC mains or batteries.
AC Mains Power:
- Ensure the unit is switched off.
- Connect the supplied AC power adapter to the DC IN jack on the back of the unit.
- Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
Battery Power:
- Ensure the unit is switched off and disconnected from AC power.
- Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit.
- Insert 6 x LR14 (C size) batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2 Antenna Setup
For optimal radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. Adjust its position and direction to achieve the best signal quality.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Operation
- Power On/Off: Press the Power (I/O) button to turn the unit on or off.
- Select Source: Press the Source button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: DAB/FM Radio, CD, Cassette, Bluetooth, AUX. The selected mode will be shown on the display.
- Adjust Volume: Rotate the Volume +/- knob to increase or decrease the sound level.
6.2 Radio Operation (DAB/DAB+ and FM)
Automatic Scanning and Presets:
- Switch to DAB or FM mode using the Source button.
- For DAB, the unit will typically perform an automatic scan upon first use. For FM, press the Scan button to automatically search for and store available stations.
- To manually store a station: Tune to the desired station, then press and hold the Preset button. Use the Tuning/Select knob to choose a preset number (1-20), then press Tuning/Select to confirm.
- To recall a preset station: Press the Preset button, then use the Tuning/Select knob to select the desired preset number, and press Tuning/Select to confirm.
Manual Tuning:
- In FM mode, rotate the Tuning/Select knob to manually adjust the frequency.
- In DAB mode, rotate the Tuning/Select knob to browse available DAB stations.
6.3 CD Player Operation
- Switch to CD mode using the Source button.
- Open the CD compartment lid on the top of the unit.
- Place a CD (CD/CD-R/CD-RW) onto the spindle with the label side facing up.
- Close the CD compartment lid. The unit will read the disc.
- Press the Play button (usually indicated by a triangle symbol) on the top panel to start playback.
- Use the Menu/Skip Back and Info/Skip Forward buttons to skip tracks.
- Press the Stop/Eject button (square symbol) to stop playback.
- Press the Pause button (two vertical bars) to temporarily pause playback. Press again to resume.
6.4 Cassette Player/Recorder Operation
Playback:
- Switch to Cassette mode using the Source button.
- Press the Stop/Eject button on the top panel to open the cassette deck door.
- Insert a cassette tape with the open edge facing upwards.
- Close the cassette deck door.
- Press the Play button to start playback.
- Use Fast Forward and Rewind buttons to navigate the tape.
- Press Stop/Eject to stop playback and open the door.
Recording:
The unit supports recording from Radio, CD, AUX-IN, or the built-in microphone to a cassette tape.
- Insert a recordable cassette tape into the cassette deck.
- Select the desired source (Radio, CD, AUX) using the Source button.
- Start playback on the source (e.g., play a CD, tune to a radio station).
- Press the Record button (red circle symbol) on the cassette deck controls. The Play button will also engage automatically.
- To record from the built-in microphone, ensure no external microphone is connected to the Mic jack.
- To stop recording, press the Stop/Eject button.
6.5 Bluetooth Operation
- Switch to Bluetooth mode using the Source button. The display will show 'BT' or 'Bluetooth' and indicate pairing mode.
- On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
- Select 'M-182 DB' from the list of available devices.
- Once paired, you can play audio from your device, and it will stream wirelessly to the M182 DB.
- Use your connected device to control playback (play/pause, skip tracks) and volume, or use the volume knob on the M182 DB.
6.6 AUX IN Connection
- Switch to AUX mode using the Source button.
- Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player) to the AUX IN jack using a 3.5mm audio cable (not supplied).
- Start playback on your external device. The audio will be played through the M182 DB speakers.
- Adjust the volume using the Volume +/- knob on the M182 DB and/or on your external device.
6.7 Headphone Use
To listen privately, plug 3.5mm stereo headphones (not supplied) into the Phones jack. The speakers will automatically mute.
