Setup and First Use
Before using your Moka Pot for the first time, follow these steps:
- Unpack: Remove all packaging materials and inspect the appliance for any damage.
- Clean: Wash all removable parts (carafe, filters, boiler) with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not immerse the power base in water.
- First Brew Cycle (Cleaning): To ensure optimal taste and cleanliness, perform a cleaning brew cycle without coffee. Fill the boiler with water up to the safety valve, assemble the pot, and run a full brewing cycle. Discard the water. Repeat this process 2-3 times.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to brew coffee with your Girmi MC23 Electric Moka Pot:
- Fill Water: Unscrew the transparent carafe from the boiler base. Fill the boiler base with cold water up to the level of the safety valve. Do not overfill.
- Add Coffee: Insert the coffee funnel filter into the boiler base. Fill the filter with ground coffee. Do not press the coffee down too firmly. For fewer cups, use the included adapter in the funnel filter.
- Assemble: Screw the transparent carafe firmly onto the boiler base. Ensure it is tightly sealed to prevent steam leakage.
- Place on Power Base: Place the assembled Moka Pot onto the electronic power base.
- Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Start Brewing:
- Immediate Brew: Press the power button (I/O) to start brewing immediately. The LED display will show the brewing progress.
- Programmable Timer: To set a delayed start, press the 'TIMER' button. Use the time adjustment buttons (likely L and R or similar symbols on the display) to set the desired start time. Press 'TIMER ON' to confirm. The coffee maker will start brewing at the programmed time.
- Keep Warm Function: After brewing, the Moka Pot automatically enters a keep-warm mode for 30 minutes, keeping your coffee hot.
- Serve: Once brewing is complete and the keep-warm cycle ends (or you manually turn it off), carefully remove the Moka Pot from the power base and serve. The thermally insulated base allows you to place it on any surface.

Figure 4: The electronic control panel features an LED display, power button, timer setting buttons, and a lock indicator.

Figure 5: The transparent carafe allows for easy monitoring of the coffee brewing process without needing to open the lid.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and performance of your Moka Pot.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, allow the Moka Pot to cool completely. Disassemble all parts. Wash the carafe, funnel filter, and boiler base with warm water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reassembling or storing.
- Do Not Use Abrasives: Avoid using abrasive sponges or harsh cleaning agents that could damage the surfaces.
- Power Base: Wipe the power base with a damp cloth. Never immerse the power base in water or any other liquid.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits may build up, affecting performance. Descale your Moka Pot every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for coffee makers, following the product's instructions, or a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio). Run a brewing cycle with the descaling solution, then rinse thoroughly by running 2-3 cycles with clean water.
