3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to properly set up your FEDOUR Aquarium Canister Filter:

  1. Prepare the Filter Media:

The filter comes with pre-installed filter media. If you wish to use the included ceramic balls, you may need to remove one or two layers of filter cotton to create space. Rinse all filter media thoroughly under clean water before placing them into the filter bucket. Ensure the media layers are correctly stacked as shown in the diagram below.

  2. Assemble the Filter Head:

Attach the submersible pump to the designated area inside the filter bucket. Secure the top cover onto the filter bucket, ensuring the orange tabs are firmly latched to prevent leaks.

  3. Connect Hoses and Pipes:

Connect the soft hose to the inlet and outlet valves on the filter head. Attach the water intake pipe assembly (including the telescopic tube and suction cups) to the inlet hose. Attach the spray bar assembly to the outlet hose. Use the provided suction cups to secure the intake and outlet pipes to the inside of your aquarium.

  4. Position the Filter:

Place the canister filter below the aquarium water level, ideally in a cabinet or on a sturdy surface next to the tank. Ensure the hoses are not kinked and allow for smooth water flow.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the filter is set up, follow these steps to begin operation:

  1. Priming the Filter:

Before plugging in, ensure the filter bucket is filled with water. You can do this by opening the inlet valve and allowing water to siphon from the aquarium into the filter, or by manually filling the bucket before sealing the lid. Once water fills the canister, close the valves.

  2. Power On:

Plug the power cable into a grounded electrical outlet. The pump will start, and water will begin to circulate through the filter and back into the aquarium.

  3. Adjust Water Flow:

Rotate the inlet and outlet valves on the filter head to adjust the water flow rate to your desired level. The telescopic tube at the water intake can be adjusted up or down to best fit your fish tank's depth. The shower pipe outlet can be rotated 360° to direct water flow and increase dissolved oxygen.

  4. Quiet Operation:

This filter is designed for super quiet operation, with noise levels below 35dB. You should primarily hear only the sound of water circulation. If the spray bar is installed underwater, the operation will be even quieter.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your filter. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

  1. Cleaning Filter Media:

The filter media should be cleaned periodically, typically every 2-4 weeks depending on your aquarium's bioload. Open the orange tabs to release the top cover and access the filter media trays. Rinse the filter cottons in old aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria. Replace media as needed.
