Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your HUUM Cliff 10.5 kW Sauna Heater with UKU Control. Please read all instructions carefully before proceeding with installation or use. Retain this manual for future reference.
The HUUM Cliff 10.5 kW sauna heater is designed for sauna rooms up to 600 cubic feet. This package includes the CLIFF 10.5kW sauna heater, UKU White Sauna Control, an Extension Box, and 165 lbs of 1" to 2" (3-5 cm) round Olivine sauna stones.
Setup and Installation
Important: Installation of the HUUM Cliff sauna heater and its electrical components must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all local and national electrical codes and regulations. Incorrect installation can lead to electric shock, fire, or other hazards.
1. Heater Placement
Position the HUUM Cliff heater in your sauna room according to the manufacturer's specifications for clearances from walls and benches. Ensure adequate air circulation around the heater.

2. Loading Sauna Stones
Carefully place the provided 165 lbs of 1" to 2" (3-5 cm) round Olivine sauna stones into the heater's stone basket. Ensure the stones are packed densely but allow for air circulation between them. Avoid forcing stones, as this can damage the heating elements. The stones should cover the heating elements completely but not extend significantly above the top edge of the heater.

3. UKU Control and Extension Box Connection
Connect the UKU White Sauna Control and Extension Box according to the wiring diagrams provided in the separate UKU control manual. The extension box facilitates the connection between the control unit and the heater. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

Operating Instructions
1. Initial Power-Up
After professional installation, turn on the main power supply to the sauna heater. The UKU control unit will power on. Refer to the UKU control manual for initial setup and pairing instructions, especially if using the optional WiFi features.
2. Setting Temperature and Time
Use the UKU control panel to set your desired sauna temperature and heating duration. The control allows for precise temperature adjustments and scheduling. Follow the specific instructions in the UKU control manual for navigating menus and setting parameters.
3. Using Water on Stones
Once the heater has reached the desired temperature, you may gently pour small amounts of water onto the hot sauna stones to create steam (löyly). Use only clean tap water. Avoid pouring excessive amounts of water at once, as this can cool the elements too rapidly or cause water to spill outside the heater. Never pour water on the heater elements directly.
Maintenance
1. Regular Cleaning
Ensure the heater is completely cool and disconnected from power before cleaning. Wipe the exterior of the heater with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the air vents clear of dust and debris.
2. Stone Inspection
Periodically inspect the sauna stones (at least once a year, or more frequently with heavy use). Remove any broken or crumbling stones and replace them with new, appropriate sauna stones. Rearrange the stones to ensure good air circulation and even heat distribution. Over time, stones can lose their heat retention properties or become brittle.
3. Electrical Connections
Have a qualified electrician periodically check all electrical connections to the heater and control unit to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your HUUM Cliff sauna heater, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps before contacting support.
- Heater Not Heating: Check the circuit breaker for the sauna heater. Ensure the UKU control unit is powered on and set to a temperature above the current sauna room temperature. Verify all electrical connections are secure (this should be done by a qualified electrician).
- Control Unit Not Responding: Check the power supply to the UKU control. If the unit has a display, check for error codes and consult the UKU control manual. Try restarting the control unit by cycling its power.
- Insufficient Heat: Ensure the sauna room door is properly closed and sealed. Verify that the sauna stones are correctly loaded and not too tightly packed, which can restrict airflow. Check the sauna room size against the heater's capacity (up to 600 cu ft for this model).
- Excessive Steam/Water Spillage: Ensure you are pouring small amounts of water onto the stones. Avoid pouring water directly onto the heating elements.
For persistent issues or complex electrical problems, contact a qualified electrician or HUUM customer support.
