1. Important Safety Information

Please read and understand all instructions before using your Kenmore SM2050 Steam Mop. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious personal injury.

  • Electrical Safety: Always ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power outlet before performing any maintenance or cleaning. Do not operate the steam mop with a damaged cord or plug.
  • Water Usage: Use only cold distilled or demineralized water in the water tank to prevent mineral build-up and prolong the lifespan of the steam mop. Do not add cleaning solutions, perfumes, or other chemicals to the water tank.
  • General Safety: Keep the steam mop away from children and pets. Do not direct steam at people, animals, or electrical appliances. Always sweep or vacuum the floor first to remove any debris before steaming.

3. Setup

3.1 Assembly

  1. Align the holes and connect the Handle to the Metal Tube. Secure with the provided screw. Tighten the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
  2. Align the Metal Tube to the Main Body of the Steam Mop and insert it. Make sure that the tube is in the LOCKED POSITION and secure with the Metal Tube Locking Mechanism inside the hole.
  3. Place the Handheld Steam Mop Control onto the Main Body until it clicks into place.

3.2 Filling the Water Tank

  1. Ensure the steam mop is unplugged.
  2. Unscrew the water tank cap.
  3. Using the provided water cup, fill the water tank with cold distilled or demineralized water. Do not overfill.
  4. Securely replace the water tank cap.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Using as an Upright Steam Mop

  1. Ensure the microfiber pad is securely attached to the floor head.
  2. Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. The ON/OFF LED red light will blink while warming up.
  3. Once the red light stops blinking and becomes solid, the mop is ready for use.
  4. Press the Variable Steam Control button to start steam cleaning. The steam mop operates with High Volume of Steam by default.
  5. Move the steam mop slowly and steadily over the floor surface.
  6. To stop steaming, press the Variable Steam Control button again.

4.2 Using as a Handheld Steamer

  1. Detach the handheld unit from the main body by pressing the release button.
  2. Attach the Tool Adapter to the steam nozzle opening until it clicks into place.
  3. Select the desired handheld steaming attachment (Scraper Tool, Bristle Tool, or Angle Tool) and rotate it clockwise onto the Tool Adapter to lock it in place.
  4. To produce steam, press and hold the Steam Release Trigger located on the handle. Release the trigger to stop steam production.

4.3 Steam Modes

The Kenmore SM2050 offers two steam modes:

  • High Volume Steam: Activated by the first press of the Variable Steam Control button (two blue lights). Ideal for heavily soiled areas and tough messes.
  • Low Volume Steam: Activated by a second press of the Variable Steam Control button (one blue light). Suitable for lighter cleaning and delicate surfaces.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning Microfiber Pads

  1. Remove the microfiber pad from the floor head after every use.
  2. Wash the textile pad with mild liquid detergent only to remove lint.
  3. The textile pad should be washed after every use (Max Temperature 104 Degrees F / 40 Degrees C).
  4. DO NOT use bleach or fabric softener, as it could damage the microfiber material.
  5. AIR DRY ONLY to prolong the life of the textile pad (Recommended).

5.2 Descaling

Regular descaling is recommended to maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your steam mop, especially if using tap water (though distilled water is recommended).

  1. Mix 1/3 white vinegar with 2/3 water in the water tank.
  2. Plug in the unit and allow it to produce steam until the tank is empty.
  3. Repeat the process with fresh, clean distilled water to rinse out any remaining vinegar.

6. Troubleshooting
