Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Zephyr AK9434BS Stainless Steel Range Hood. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety. Keep this manual for future reference.
Important Safety Information
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, observe the following:
- Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.
- Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel-burning equipment to prevent back-drafting.
- When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.
- Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
- Do not use this unit with any external solid-state speed control device.
- To reduce the risk of a range top grease fire, never leave surface units unattended at high settings.
- Clean grease laden surfaces frequently. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or filters.
- Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when flaming foods.
- Use appropriate size cookware.

Installation and Setup
The Zephyr AK9434BS is designed as a range insert hood for ceiling mount applications. Professional installation is recommended.
1. Pre-Installation Considerations
- Ducting: This unit requires ducted/vented installation. Ensure an 8-inch round duct is available or can be installed. The hood can vent out the top or back.
- Electrical: The unit operates on 120V, 5A, 600W. A dedicated circuit is recommended.
- Mounting Height: Refer to local building codes and the hood's specifications for optimal mounting height above the cooking surface. Recommended ceiling height range is 96" - 144".
2. Mounting the Hood
Secure the hood insert into the custom cabinetry or enclosure. Ensure the structure can support the hood's weight (approximately 38 pounds). Use appropriate fasteners for your cabinet material.

3. Duct Connection
Connect the 8-inch round ductwork to the hood's exhaust outlet. Ensure all connections are sealed with duct tape or mastic to prevent air leaks.
4. Electrical Connection
Connect the hood to a grounded 120V AC power supply. Follow all local electrical codes. If you are unsure, consult a licensed electrician.
5. Zephyr Connect (Optional)
This model is compatible with the Zephyr Connect App. Refer to the separate Zephyr Connect guide for instructions on pairing your hood with the application for smart features.
Operation
The Zephyr AK9434BS features 6-speed Proximity Touch Controls and LumiLight LED lighting for efficient and convenient operation.

1. Power On/Off
Touch the power icon on the control panel to turn the hood on or off.
2. Fan Speed Adjustment
Use the speed control buttons to select one of the six available fan speeds. Higher speeds provide greater airflow (up to 700 CFM) for more intense cooking.
3. LumiLight LED Lighting
Touch the light icon to turn the LED lights on or off. Hold the light icon to cycle through dimmable light levels. LumiLight LEDs are designed for energy efficiency and long life.
4. CleanAir Function
Activate the CleanAir Function to automatically power the hood on every four hours for 10 minutes. This helps refresh the cooking area by circulating air.
5. Airflow Control Technology (ACT)
ACT allows installers to set maximum CFM levels to comply with local building codes. This setting is typically configured during installation and does not require user adjustment.
6. Optional Wireless Remote Control
If an optional wireless remote control is purchased, refer to its specific instructions for pairing and operation. The remote enables ADA compliant operation.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your range hood.
1. Baffle Filter Cleaning
The high-airflow pro baffle filters are dishwasher safe. Remove filters by pulling the handles and sliding them out. Clean them regularly (monthly, or more frequently depending on cooking habits) to prevent grease buildup and maintain airflow efficiency. Allow filters to dry completely before re-installing.

2. Exterior Cleaning
Clean the stainless steel exterior with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Always wipe in the direction of the grain. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads that can scratch the surface.
3. LED Light Replacement
LumiLight LED lights are designed for a long lifespan (over 25,000 hours) and typically do not require replacement. If a light fails, contact Zephyr customer support for service.
