1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Brinno BCC300-M Time Lapse Camera. The BCC300-M is designed for capturing time-lapse videos in various outdoor environments, including construction sites, plant growth monitoring, and weather observation. It features a 1080P HD video resolution, HDR capability, extended battery life, and an IPX4 water-resistant housing.

3. Product Overview

3.1 Key Features

3.2 Camera Components

The camera features an intuitive interface with a 1.44" IPS LCD screen for settings adjustment and live view. Key buttons include:

  • Menu Button: Accesses camera settings.
  • Info Button: Displays current camera information.
  • OK Button: Confirms selections and starts/stops recording.
  • Power Button: Turns the camera on or off.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment on the camera.
  2. Insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Close the battery compartment securely.

4.2 SD Card Insertion

  1. Locate the micro SD card slot on the camera.
  2. Insert the provided micro SD card (or another compatible card up to 128GB) until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, press the card gently to release it.

4.3 Mounting the Camera

The BCC300-M includes an IPX4 water-resistant housing and a wall mount for secure outdoor installation.

  1. Place the TLC300 camera inside the ATH120 water-resistant housing. Ensure the housing is properly sealed.
  2. Attach the AWM100 wall mount to the housing. The mount features a 360-degree rotating joint for precise positioning.
  3. Secure the wall mount to a desired surface using screws or the adhesive pad. For long-term projects, screw mounting is recommended. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying the adhesive pad.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the Power Button until the screen illuminates.
  • To power off, press and hold the Power Button until the screen turns off.

5.2 Menu Navigation

Use the Menu Button to access settings and the OK Button to confirm selections. The Info Button provides quick access to camera status.

5.3 Setting Recording Parameters

  1. Press the Menu Button to enter the settings menu.
  2. Navigate to Interval to set the time between captured frames (e.g., 5 seconds, 1 minute).
  3. Navigate to Schedule to activate and configure the daily timer. This allows you to define specific recording hours (e.g., 08:00-18:00).
  4. Adjust Image Settings for exposure, white balance, and other visual preferences. The camera features HDR for improved day-to-night transitions.
  5. Confirm all settings by pressing the OK Button.

5.4 Starting and Stopping Recording

  • After configuring settings, press the OK Button to begin recording. The screen will indicate that recording is active.
  • To stop recording, press the OK Button again.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body and lens. For the housing, a damp cloth can be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace AA batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the screen to ensure continuous operation.
  • SD Card Management: Regularly back up data from the SD card and format it periodically to maintain optimal performance.
  • Housing Seal: Periodically inspect the rubber gasket of the water-resistant housing for any signs of wear or damage to ensure its integrity.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Camera Not Powering On: Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and fully charged. Try new batteries.
  • No Recording: Check if the SD card is inserted correctly and has sufficient free space. Verify recording settings and schedule. Ensure the OK button was pressed to initiate recording.
  • Blurry Video: Clean the camera lens and the housing's transparent cover. Check for condensation inside the housing; if present, open and dry the housing thoroughly before re-sealing.
  • Short Battery Life: Battery life is dependent on capture interval and environmental conditions. Ensure fresh, high-quality AA batteries are used. Longer intervals conserve battery power.
  • Image Quality Issues: Review image settings (e.g., exposure, white balance) in the menu. Ensure the lens is clean.
