5. Maintenance

5.1. Battery Replacement

The moofit CS8 Cadence Sensor uses a CR2032 coin cell battery. The battery life is approximately 300 days under normal usage. When the sensor's performance degrades or it fails to connect, it may be time to replace the battery.

  1. Carefully twist open the battery cover on the sensor.
  2. Remove the old CR2032 battery.
  3. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing upwards.
  4. Securely close the battery cover, ensuring the O-ring seal is properly seated to maintain waterproofing.

5.2. Cleaning and Storage

To ensure longevity and accurate performance:

  • Wipe the sensor clean with a damp cloth after each use, especially if it has been exposed to sweat, dirt, or rain.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Store the sensor in a cool, dry place when not in use.

5.3. Waterproofing

The sensor has an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected from dust and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. However, it is not designed for prolonged underwater use. Always ensure the battery cover is securely closed to maintain its waterproof integrity.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your moofit CS8 Cadence Sensor, try the following solutions:

6.1. Sensor Not Connecting/Detected

  • Check Battery: Ensure the insulation sheet has been removed and the battery is correctly installed. Replace the battery if it's low or depleted.
  • Wake Up Sensor: Spin the bike's crank arm for a few seconds to wake the sensor from sleep mode.
  • Proximity: Ensure the sensor is within range of your bike computer or smart device (typically a few meters).
  • Bluetooth/ANT+ Status: Verify that Bluetooth or ANT+ is enabled on your receiving device.
  • App Permissions: Check if the fitness app has necessary permissions (e.g., Bluetooth, location) enabled on your smart device.
  • Interference: Move away from other electronic devices that might cause interference.
  • Restart Devices: Try restarting your bike computer or smart device.

6.2. Inaccurate Cadence Readings

  • Sensor Placement: Ensure the sensor is securely mounted on the crank arm and does not shift during pedaling.
  • Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your bike computer or fitness app, as these can sometimes improve sensor compatibility and accuracy.
  • Interference: Strong electromagnetic fields can sometimes affect sensor readings.

6.3. LED Indicator Not Flashing

  • Battery: The most common cause is a dead or improperly installed battery. Replace the battery.
  • Damage: Inspect the sensor for any visible damage.
