Setup
1. Initial Charging
Upon first use or after prolonged storage in darkness, expose the watch face to light for several hours to ensure a full charge. The watch is solar-powered and requires light exposure to maintain its battery level. An indicator on the display shows the current charge level.
2. Time Calibration (Atomic Timekeeping)
The GW-9400 Rangeman automatically receives time calibration signals from six transmission stations worldwide (Multi-Band 6). For optimal reception, place the watch near a window at night. Manual reception can also be initiated:
- In Timekeeping Mode, press and hold the ADJUST button until the city code starts to flash.
- Press the MODE button to cycle through settings until you reach the time calibration setting.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to initiate manual reception.
3. Basic Time Setting (Manual)
If automatic time calibration is not available, you can set the time manually:
- In Timekeeping Mode, press and hold the ADJUST button until the city code starts to flash.
- Use the FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to select your home city code.
- Press the MODE button to cycle through settings (DST, 12/24-hour format, seconds, hour, minute, year, month, day).
- Use the FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to change the flashing value.
- Press ADJUST to exit the setting mode.
Operating Instructions
1. Mode Navigation
The watch features several modes. Press the MODE button to cycle through them: Timekeeping, Altimeter, Barometer/Thermometer, Compass, Stopwatch, Timer, Alarm, World Time, and Record Data.

2. Timekeeping Mode
This mode displays the current time, date, and day of the week. It is the default mode. Pressing the LIGHT button illuminates the display.
3. Altimeter Mode
Press the SENSOR button (top right) to enter Altimeter Mode. The watch measures and displays the current altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Calibration may be required for accurate readings.
4. Barometer/Thermometer Mode
From Altimeter Mode, press the MODE button to switch to Barometer/Thermometer Mode. This mode displays atmospheric pressure and temperature. For accurate temperature readings, remove the watch from your wrist for at least 20-30 minutes to avoid body heat interference.
5. Compass Mode
From Barometer/Thermometer Mode, press the MODE button to enter Compass Mode. The watch displays the current direction. Hold the watch level and away from magnetic fields for accurate readings. Calibration is recommended periodically.
6. Stopwatch and Timer
Access Stopwatch and Timer modes via the MODE button. The stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times, and two finishes. The countdown timer can be set for specific durations.
7. Alarms and Hourly Time Signal
The watch includes multiple daily alarms and an hourly time signal. These can be set and activated in the Alarm Mode.
8. World Time
World Time Mode displays the current time in 48 cities (31 time zones) around the globe. Use the FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to scroll through city codes.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Wipe the watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush and mild soap solution, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry completely. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
2. Water Resistance
The watch is water resistant to 20 bar (200 meters). This rating supports swimming, showering, and snorkeling. Do not operate buttons while the watch is submerged in water or wet. Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam, as this can compromise seals.
3. Battery Care (Solar)
To ensure optimal battery life, expose the watch to light regularly. Avoid storing the watch in dark places for extended periods. If the charge level drops, expose it to bright light until fully charged. The power saving function automatically turns off the display when the watch is left in the dark to conserve power.

Troubleshooting
- Time synchronization issues: Ensure the watch is placed near a window overnight. Check your home city setting to ensure it is correct for your region. Strong magnetic fields or radio interference can affect signal reception.
- Inaccurate sensor readings (Altimeter, Barometer, Compass): Calibrate the sensors regularly according to the instructions in the operating manual. Environmental changes (weather, altitude changes) can affect readings. For temperature, remove the watch from your wrist for accurate ambient readings.
- Display not working or dim: Check the battery charge level. Expose the watch to bright light for several hours to charge. If the power saving function is active, the display may turn off in darkness; press any button to reactivate.
- Watch not charging: Ensure the watch face is directly exposed to light. Avoid covering the solar panel. If the watch has been completely depleted, it may take longer to show a charge indicator.
