Model: Mag500KG

Brand: YUANWIN

1. Overview

The YUANWIN Electromagnetic Lock (Model: Mag500KG) is designed for access control systems, providing a secure locking mechanism with a 1200LBS (500KG) holding force. It operates in NC (Fail-Safe) mode, meaning the door remains closed when powered and opens upon power loss. This lock is suitable for various door types including wooden, glass, metal, and fire-proof doors. It features a built-in voltage spike suppressor for enhanced protection.

4. Setup & Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and security of your electromagnetic lock. Follow these steps carefully:

4.1 General Installation

  1. Prepare the Door and Frame: Ensure the door and frame surfaces where the lock and armature plate will be mounted are clean, flat, and structurally sound.
  2. Mount the Electromagnetic Lock: Attach the electromagnetic lock body to the door frame using the provided screws. Ensure it is securely fastened and aligned correctly.
  3. Mount the Armature Plate: Attach the armature plate to the door. The armature plate should align perfectly with the electromagnetic lock body when the door is closed. Use the included screws and ensure the plate can pivot slightly to allow for full contact with the electromagnet.

4.2 Z and L Bracket Installation

The Z and L brackets are required for specific door configurations to ensure proper mounting and alignment.

  • L Bracket for Outward Opening Doors: If the door opens outwards and the door frame thickness is less than 42mm, the L bracket is needed to mount the electromagnetic lock body.
  • ZL Bracket for Inward Opening Doors: For doors that swing inwards, the ZL bracket combination is necessary to correctly position both the lock body and the armature plate.

4.3 Wiring Diagram

Connect the electromagnetic lock to your DC 12V power supply and access control system according to the following diagram. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly polarized.

5. Operating Instructions

The electromagnetic lock operates in NC (Normally Closed) mode, also known as Fail-Safe mode. When power is supplied to the lock, it energizes the electromagnet, attracting the armature plate and securing the door. When power is removed, the electromagnet de-energizes, releasing the armature plate and allowing the door to open. This ensures that the door unlocks automatically during a power failure, providing a safe exit. The lock integrates with your existing access control system (e.g., keypad, card reader) to control the power supply, thereby controlling the lock/unlock state of the door.

6. Maintenance

Regular inspection of the electromagnetic lock and armature plate is recommended to ensure optimal performance. Keep the surfaces of the electromagnet and armature plate clean and free from debris to maintain maximum holding force. Check all wiring connections periodically for security and integrity. Avoid using abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish. Ensure that the armature plate is free to pivot slightly to allow for full contact with the electromagnet when the door is closed.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Lock Not Holding Properly: Ensure the electromagnet and armature plate surfaces are clean and making full contact. Any gap or debris can significantly reduce holding force.
  • No Power/Lock Not Engaging: Verify that the power supply meets the DC 12V requirement and that the operating current is stable. Check all wiring connections for proper installation and ensure no wires are loose or damaged.
  • Lock Fails to Disengage: Confirm that the access control system is sending the correct signal to cut power to the lock. Check for any short circuits or power supply issues.
  • Electrical Surges: The built-in voltage spike suppressor protects against electrical surges; however, persistent power issues may require professional electrical inspection.
