1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Cecotec Power Espresso Touch ColdBrew Coffee Maker. This manual provides important information for the safe operation, use, and maintenance of your appliance. Please read it thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.

1.1. Safety Instructions

WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

  • Always ensure the voltage indicated on the rating label matches your mains voltage.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
  • Keep the appliance out of reach of children and pets.
  • Unplug the appliance from the power outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
  • Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • Use only accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Avoid contact with hot surfaces, especially the steam wand and hot water dispenser.
  • Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh, cold water before operation.

The Cecotec Power Espresso Touch ColdBrew is a versatile coffee maker designed to prepare a variety of coffee beverages, including hot espresso, cold brew, and frothed milk for cappuccinos and lattes. It features a touch control panel for ease of use.

2.1. Components

  • Water Tank: Removable, 1.5L capacity, located at the back.
  • Touch Control Panel: Digital display with touch buttons for various functions.
  • Portafilter: Holds ground coffee, with single and double shot filters.
  • Steam Wand: Adjustable nozzle for frothing milk and dispensing hot water.
  • Drip Tray: Removable for easy cleaning, collects excess liquid.
  • Cup Warmer: Metal surface on top of the machine to pre-heat cups.
  • Coffee Outlet: Where brewed coffee dispenses from the portafilter.

2.2. Controls and Display

The intuitive touch control panel allows for easy selection of coffee types and functions.

  • ON/OFF Button: Powers the machine on or off.
  • Espresso Button: Brews a single shot of espresso.
  • 2x Espresso Button: Brews a double shot of espresso.
  • Cold Espresso Button: Activates the ColdBrew system for cold espresso.
  • Americano Button: Brews an Americano.
  • Steam Button: Activates the steam function for milk frothing.
  • Temperature Display: Shows the current water temperature.

3. Setup

3.1. Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials. Check that all components are present and undamaged. Keep packaging for future storage or transport.

3.2. Initial Cleaning

Before first use, wash the water tank, portafilter, and filter baskets with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

3.3. Water Tank Filling

  1. Remove the water tank from the back of the machine.
  2. Fill the tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level indicator. Do not exceed the MAX line.
  3. Place the water tank back into its position, ensuring it is securely seated.

3.4. First Use / Priming

To prime the system and remove any air, perform the following steps:

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled.
  2. Place a cup under the coffee outlet.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the machine. It will pre-heat.
  4. Once pre-heated, press the Espresso button and let water flow through until the cup is full. Repeat this process 2-3 times.
  5. Turn the steam knob to the steam position and let steam release for a few seconds to clear the steam wand.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Making Espresso (Single/Double)

  1. Ensure the machine is on and pre-heated.
  2. Insert the desired filter basket (single or double) into the portafilter.
  3. Fill the filter basket with finely ground coffee. Level the coffee and tamp it firmly.
  4. Attach the portafilter to the group head by aligning it and rotating it to the right until it is secure.
  5. Place one or two cups on the drip tray under the coffee outlets.
  6. Press the 'Espresso' button for a single shot or '2x Espresso' for a double shot. The machine will automatically brew the coffee.

4.2. Using ColdBrew System

The ColdBrew system allows you to prepare cold coffee beverages.

  1. Prepare the portafilter with ground coffee as you would for espresso.
  2. Place a glass with ice under the coffee outlet.
  3. Press the 'Cold Espresso' button on the touch panel. The machine will brew a concentrated cold coffee.

4.3. Frothing Milk

  1. Fill a milk frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
  2. Press the 'Steam' button on the touch panel. Wait for the machine to reach steaming temperature.
  3. Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
  4. Turn the steam knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
  5. Once desired foam is achieved, turn off the steam knob and clean the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth.

4.4. Making Americano

To make an Americano, first brew an espresso shot, then add hot water.

  1. Brew a single or double espresso shot into your cup.
  2. Press the 'Americano' button. The machine will dispense hot water into your cup, diluting the espresso to an Americano.

4.5. Cup Warming

The top surface of the machine acts as a cup warmer, helping to maintain the temperature of your coffee.

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee maker.

5.1. Daily Cleaning

  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove spent coffee grounds and rinse the portafilter and filter baskets under running water.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Purge a small amount of steam to clear any internal blockages.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the indicator floats up.

5.2. Descaling

Descaling is essential to remove mineral buildup and maintain machine performance. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage. It is recommended every 2-3 months.

  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions, or use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio).
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the coffee outlet and steam wand.
  4. Run half of the solution through the coffee outlet by pressing the Espresso button repeatedly.
  5. Run the remaining half of the solution through the steam wand.
  6. After descaling, rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water. Run several cycles of fresh water through both the coffee outlet and steam wand to rinse out any descaling solution residue.

5.3. Water Tank Cleaning

Clean the water tank regularly with warm soapy water to prevent algae or mineral buildup. Rinse thoroughly before refilling.

6. Troubleshooting
