Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits can build up inside the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine regularly according to the hardness of your water and frequency of use. Use a commercial descaling solution designed for coffee machines and follow the product's instructions.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee is not hot enough. | Cups are cold; machine not fully preheated. | Preheat cups on the warming tray or with hot water. Allow machine to fully preheat before brewing. |
| No coffee dispenses or flow is very slow. | Water tank empty; coffee too finely ground or over-tamped; machine needs descaling. | Fill water tank. Use coarser grind or less pressure when tamping. Descale the machine. |
| Steam wand not producing steam or weak steam. | Steam wand clogged with dried milk; machine not hot enough for steam; machine needs descaling. | Clean steam wand immediately after each use. Allow machine to reach full steam temperature. Descale the machine. |
| Portafilter difficult to attach or remove. | New machine; gasket needs lubrication or replacement. | This can be normal for new machines; it will ease with use. If persistent, check gasket for wear. |
