5. Setup

  1. Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove the record player from its packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the DC 5V 1A input on the rear of the unit and plug it into a wall outlet.
  3. Remove Stylus Protector: Gently remove the white plastic stylus protector from the needle before first use.
  4. Positioning: Place the unit on a flat, stable surface to ensure optimal playback and prevent skipping.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Playing a Vinyl Record

  1. Power On: Turn the On/Off & Volume Knob clockwise to power on the unit. The Power/Bluetooth Indicator Light will illuminate.
  2. Select Phono Mode: Ensure the Bluetooth/Phono Key is set to 'Phono'.
  3. Place Record: Place your vinyl record on the turntable platter.
  4. Select Speed: Adjust the Speed Selection Switch to match your record's RPM (33, 45, or 78). Use the 45 RPM adapter for 7-inch records if needed.
  5. Auto Stop: Set the Auto Stop Switch to 'ON' if you want the turntable to stop spinning automatically when the record finishes. Set to 'OFF' for continuous play.
  6. Start Playback: Lift the Tonearm using the Lift Lever. Manually move the tonearm over the desired track on the record. Gently lower the Tonearm using the Lift Lever to begin playback.
  7. Adjust Volume: Use the On/Off & Volume Knob to adjust the sound level from the built-in speakers.
  8. Stop Playback: When the record finishes (or manually), lift the Tonearm using the Lift Lever and return it to its rest. Turn the On/Off & Volume Knob counter-clockwise to power off.

6.2 Bluetooth Mode

  1. Power On: Turn the On/Off & Volume Knob clockwise to power on the unit.
  2. Select Bluetooth Mode: Set the Bluetooth/Phono Key to 'BT'. The Power/Bluetooth Indicator Light will flash blue, indicating pairing mode.
  3. Pair Device: On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), search for 'Retrolife' in the Bluetooth settings and select it to pair.
  4. Confirmation: Once paired, the indicator light will stop flashing and remain solid blue. You can now stream audio from your device through the record player's speakers.
  5. Adjust Volume: Control the volume using both your device and the On/Off & Volume Knob on the record player.

6.3 AUX-in Mode

Connect non-Bluetooth devices like MP3 players using the AUX-in port.

  1. Power On: Turn the On/Off & Volume Knob clockwise.
  2. Connect AUX Cable: Plug a 3.5mm AUX cable (not included) into the Line In Jack on the front panel and the other end into your external audio device.
  3. Playback: Play audio from your external device. The sound will output through the record player's speakers.
  4. Adjust Volume: Control the volume using both your external device and the On/Off & Volume Knob on the record player.

6.4 RCA Line Out

Connect the record player to external powered speakers or a stereo system for enhanced audio.

  1. Connect RCA Cables: Plug RCA cables (not included) into the RCA Line Out jacks (red for right, white for left) on the rear panel of the record player.
  2. Connect to External System: Connect the other end of the RCA cables to the corresponding audio input on your external amplifier or powered speakers.
  3. Playback: Play your record or stream via Bluetooth. Audio will output through the external system.
  4. Adjust Volume: Control the volume primarily through your external amplifier/speakers.

6.5 Headphone Jack

For private listening, plug standard 3.5mm headphones (not included) into the Headphone Jack on the front panel. The built-in speakers will automatically mute.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Stylus

  • Use a soft brush (not included) to gently clean the stylus from back to front. Do not brush from side to side.
  • Replace the stylus every 200-300 hours of play for optimal sound quality and to prevent damage to your records.

7.2 Cleaning Records

  • Always hold records by the edges or the label.
  • Use a soft, anti-static cloth (not included) to wipe records gently in a circular motion, following the grooves.
  • For deeper cleaning, use a specialized record cleaning solution and brush (not included).

7.3 Cleaning the Unit

  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

7.4 Storage

  • When not in use, close the suitcase lid to protect the turntable from dust.
  • Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures.
