Search Modes

The MANTICORE offers 10 customizable Search Modes to optimize performance for different environments:

  • All-Terrain: Optimized for inland detecting.
  • Beach: Optimized for sand, surf, and seawater zones.
  • Goldfield: Optimized for detecting gold nuggets.

Select the appropriate mode using the controls on the display. Customization options allow you to fine-tune settings within each mode.

Advanced Target ID and Discrimination

The 2D Target ID map provides visual information about detected targets, helping to differentiate between desired items and trash. Enhanced discrimination features allow you to reject unwanted ferrous targets.

  • Discriminate: Create custom discrimination patterns to accept good targets and reject bad ones.
  • Classify Targets: Ferrous Limits help maximize detectability of targets among ferrous trash.
  • Assign Audio: Customize pitch and volume for up to 5 tone regions to amplify targets you want to hear.

Fast Response Target Separation

Figure 8: Illustration demonstrating the MANTICORE's fast response and exceptional target separation performance, showing how it can distinguish a desired target (coin) from ferrous trash (nails) underground.

Audio and Lighting

The MANTICORE includes customizable audio controls and integrated lighting features for various detecting conditions:

  • Customizable Audio: Adjust audio settings to confidently identify targets and reduce noise.
  • Flashlight: Integrated flashlight for low-light conditions.
  • Handgrip Vibration: Provides tactile feedback for target detection.
  • Display and Keypad Backlight: Ensures visibility of the display and controls in dim light or at night.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in wet or dirty conditions, wipe down the detector with a damp cloth. Ensure all connections are dry before storage. The MANTICORE is waterproof up to 16 ft (IP68), but proper cleaning helps prevent residue buildup.
  • Coil Care: Inspect the search coil for any damage or wear. The included skidplate helps protect the coil during use.
  • Battery Care: Store the detector with a partially charged battery if not in use for extended periods. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The collapsible design allows for compact storage.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Detector does not power on.Low or depleted battery.Charge the battery fully.
No target response.Incorrect search mode or sensitivity settings.Adjust sensitivity and ensure correct search mode for the terrain. Check coil connection.
Excessive false signals.High electromagnetic interference or ground mineralization.Reduce sensitivity. Perform ground balance. Adjust discrimination settings.
Audio issues (no sound/distorted).Headphones not connected properly or volume too low.Check headphone connection and volume settings. Ensure wireless audio is enabled if using wireless headphones.
