1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use and care of your Godox XProII-S Wireless Flash Trigger for Sony Cameras. 3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

The XProII-S uses two AA batteries. To install:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom of the unit.
  2. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Mounting on Camera

To mount the XProII-S on your Sony camera:

  1. Ensure the quick-release lock is in the unlocked position.
  2. Slide the XProII-S onto your camera's hotshoe until it clicks into place.
  3. Push the quick-release lever to the locked position to secure the trigger.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button to turn the unit on or off. The large LCD screen will illuminate upon power-on.

4.2. Setting Channels and IDs

To avoid signal interference and control specific flashes, set unique channels and IDs:

  1. Navigate to the channel (CH) and ID settings on the LCD.
  2. Use the dial and buttons to select a channel (1-32) and ID (01-99).
  3. Ensure your flash units are set to the same channel and ID.
  4. Use the scan function to find the least intrusive channel in your environment.

4.3. App Control (Bluetooth)

For remote control, connect your XProII-S to the Godox Flash app via Bluetooth:

  1. Enable Bluetooth on your XProII-S via the menu.
  2. Download and open the Godox Flash app on your smartphone.
  3. Search for and connect to your XProII-S within the app.
  4. Adjust flash values and settings directly from your mobile device.

4.4. TTL and HSS Functions

The XProII-S supports both TTL (Through-The-Lens) and HSS (High-Speed Sync) for versatile lighting control:

  • TTL: Automatically adjusts flash output for correct exposure.
  • HSS: Allows flash synchronization at shutter speeds up to 1/8000s, enabling wider apertures in bright conditions.

4.5. TCM Transform Function

The TCM (TTL Converted to Manual) function allows you to convert a TTL flash exposure value into a manual power setting. This saves time by providing a starting point for manual adjustments, streamlining your workflow from creative concepts to professional images.

4.6. Multi-Shooting Mode

When working with multiple photographers or a shared set of fixed lights, the multi-shooting mode allows your XProII-S to send a pre-set flash value to the lights, ensuring consistent output across different setups.

4.7. Single Contact Triggering

Activating this feature significantly increases the speed of burst mode shooting. Flashes are triggered in rapid succession, reducing the interval between each flash for improved performance in high-speed scenarios.

4.8. L-858 Mode (Light Meter Integration)

The XProII-S can integrate with the Sekonic L-858 light meter, which features a built-in Godox 2.4G module. This allows direct adjustment of flash parameters through the light meter, streamlining exposure setup.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the device dry. Do not handle with wet hands.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Unit does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
  • Flash not triggering: Verify that the trigger and flash unit are set to the same channel and ID. Ensure the trigger is securely mounted on the camera's hotshoe.
  • Inconsistent flash output: Check for environmental interference and use the channel scan function to find a clear channel. Ensure flash units are within range.
  • Bluetooth connection issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the trigger and your smartphone. Restart both devices and try reconnecting.
