6. Operating Instructions
Once assembled and with a charged battery, your edge trimmer is ready for use.
- Starting the Trimmer: Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands. Press and hold the safety lock-off button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch to start the motor. Release the safety button once the motor starts.
- Trimming Grass: Hold the trimmer at a slight angle to the ground, allowing the cutting line to do the work. Move the trimmer in a sweeping motion from side to side. Avoid forcing the tool into thick vegetation.
- Edging: For precise edging along sidewalks or driveways, pivot the trimmer head to the 90-degree position. Use the integrated wheel (if applicable) to guide the trimmer along the edge, maintaining a consistent depth.
- Stopping the Trimmer: Release the trigger switch to stop the motor. The cutting line will stop rotating within a few seconds.
- Battery Removal: After use, press the battery release button and slide the battery pack out of the tool.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your edge trimmer.
- Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the battery and clean the trimmer. Use a soft brush or cloth to remove grass clippings, dirt, and debris from the guard, motor housing, and cutting head. Do not use water or solvents.
- Cutting Line Replacement: When the cutting line becomes too short or breaks, it needs to be replaced. Refer to the instructions on the spool or the product packaging for the correct line diameter (typically 1.6mm to 2.0mm) and winding method. Always use genuine TOTAL replacement line.
- Storage: Store the edge trimmer in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the battery is removed before storage.
- Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods. Charge them periodically if not in use.
