3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking the Device
Carefully unpack the contents of the box. Ensure all components are present:
- 1 x NC601 Host Unit
- 1 x 9-pin Adapter for J1939 Protocol (for heavy trucks)
- 1 x USB Connector Cable
- 1 x Host Cable (16-pin OBDII connector)
- 1 x Tool Box
3.2 Connecting to the Vehicle
- Locate the vehicle's Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC). For most cars, this is a 16-pin OBDII port, usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side. For heavy trucks, a 9-pin J1939 connector may be present.
- Connect the appropriate diagnostic cable (16-pin host cable for OBDII or 9-pin adapter for J1939) to the NC601 host unit.
- Plug the other end of the cable into the vehicle's DLC.
- Once connected, the NC601 will power on automatically, drawing power directly from the vehicle's battery.
3.3 Initial Language Selection
Upon first use or after a factory reset, you may need to select your preferred language. Navigate through the settings menu to choose from available languages such as English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, and Chinese.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Navigating the Menu
Use the directional buttons (up, down, left, right) to navigate through the menu options on the screen. Press the 'OK' button to confirm a selection or enter a submenu. Use the 'Back' button to return to the previous screen.
4.2 Reading and Clearing Codes (DTCs)
- From the main menu, select 'OBDII' for cars or 'HD OBD' for heavy trucks.
- Choose 'Read Codes' to display current, pending, and permanent Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
- To clear codes, select 'Erase Codes'. Confirm the action when prompted. Note: Clearing codes will turn off the Check Engine Light but will not fix the underlying issue. Address the fault before clearing codes.
4.3 Live Data Stream
Select 'Data Stream' to view real-time sensor data from the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU). This can include engine RPM, vehicle speed, oxygen sensor readings, coolant temperature, and more. This function is useful for diagnosing intermittent problems.
4.4 I/M Readiness Status
The 'I/M Readiness' function checks the status of the vehicle's emission-related monitoring systems. This is crucial for emissions testing. A 'one-click' button is available for quick access to this feature.

Figure 4.1: The NC601's one-click I/M Readiness feature, showing the status of various emission monitors and a real-time battery voltage display.
4.5 Battery Test
Access the 'Battery' function to check the vehicle's battery voltage. This provides an indication of the battery's health and charging system performance.
4.6 Vehicle Information
The 'Vehicle Info' option allows you to retrieve information such as the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), Calibration ID (CALID), and Calibration Verification Number (CVN).

5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your HUMZOR NC601 diagnostic tool, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the screen or casing.
- Storage: Store the device in its protective case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Cable Care: Inspect cables regularly for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately to prevent electrical hazards or diagnostic inaccuracies.
- Software Updates: Periodically check the HUMZOR official website for software updates to ensure your device has the latest vehicle coverage and diagnostic capabilities.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues while using your NC601 diagnostic tool, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- Device Does Not Power On:
- Ensure the diagnostic cable is securely connected to both the NC601 and the vehicle's DLC.
- Verify that the vehicle's ignition is turned to the 'ON' position (engine can be off).
- Check the vehicle's battery voltage. If the battery is too low, the device may not receive sufficient power.
- Communication Error:
- Confirm the vehicle is OBDII compliant (for cars) or J1939 compliant (for heavy trucks).
- Ensure the correct adapter (16-pin or 9-pin) is being used for the vehicle type.
- Try connecting the device to a different compatible vehicle to rule out an issue with the original vehicle's OBD system.
- Inspect the diagnostic cable for any damage.
- Incorrect Readings or Frozen Screen:
- Restart the device by disconnecting and reconnecting it from the vehicle.
- Ensure the device's software is up to date.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact HUMZOR technical support for assistance.
