6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KRUPS electric kettle.
General Cleaning:
- Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the kettle and the power base with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the glass and stainless steel surfaces.
- Interior: The wide opening of the kettle facilitates easy access for cleaning the interior. Use a soft sponge or cloth.
- Anti-Scale Filter: The integrated anti-scale filter can be removed for cleaning. Gently pry it out with your fingernail. Rinse it under running water and brush gently if necessary. Reinsert it securely after cleaning.

Descaling:
Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. Descale your kettle regularly to maintain efficiency and water purity.
- Prepare Solution: Fill the kettle with a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water) or a commercial descaling solution according to its instructions.
- Boil and Soak: Bring the solution to a boil and let it soak for at least 30 minutes, or longer if scale is heavy. For very heavy scale, you may need to re-boil the solution.
- Rinse: Discard the descaling solution. Rinse the kettle thoroughly several times with fresh water to remove any residual vinegar or descaling agent.
- Final Rinse Boil: Fill the kettle with fresh water, boil, and discard to ensure all descaling residue is gone before using for beverages.
