4. Setup
4.1 Helmet Fitment
A properly fitting helmet is crucial for safety. The helmet should fit snugly around your head without causing pressure points. To check for proper fit:
- Place the helmet on your head, ensuring it sits level.
- Fasten the chin strap securely.
- Attempt to move the helmet from side to side and up and down. Your skin should move with the helmet, indicating a snug fit.
- Ensure there are no excessive gaps between the helmet's interior and your head.
Refer to the size guide for head circumference measurements if unsure about your size.
4.2 Visor and Peak Visor Configuration
The AT960 allows for multiple configurations:
- Standard Adventure: Clear shield and peak visor installed (default).
- Touring: Peak visor removed for reduced wind resistance.
- Off-Road: Clear shield removed, allowing for goggle use.
To remove the peak visor, locate the attachment screws on each side of the helmet and carefully unscrew them. Reinstall by aligning and tightening the screws.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Modular Chin Bar Operation
To raise the modular chin bar, locate the single lever release mechanism, typically found under the chin bar. Press the lever and lift the chin bar upwards until it locks into the open position. To close, press the lever again and firmly push the chin bar down until it latches securely.
5.2 Speedview Sun-Visor Operation
The internal Speedview sun-visor is operated by a slider mechanism on the side of the helmet. Slide it down to deploy the sun-visor and up to retract it. This allows for quick adaptation to changing light conditions.
5.3 Ventilation System Usage
The AT960 features an aero-tuned ventilation system:
- Top Vent: Open or close the top intake vent to control airflow over the scalp.
- Mouth Vent: The dual-position mouth vent can be set to position 1 for defogging the shield, or position 2 for defogging and additional ventilation.
- Exhaust Vents: Located at the rear, these vents continuously draw hot air out of the helmet.
5.4 EXO-COM Communication System Usage
Once paired, the EXO-COM system provides various communication functions:
- Intercom: Connect with other riders using the DynaMESH network. The system automatically re-organizes connections as riders move.
- Phone Calls: Answer, make, and end calls using the control unit buttons. Integrated dual microphones and adjustable ABF noise cancellation ensure clear audio.
- Music Playback: Stream music from your paired mobile device. Use the control unit for play/pause, skip track, and volume adjustments.
- GPS Navigation: Receive audio directions from your GPS unit.
- EXO-COM Mobile App: Download the app for advanced user preference customization and access to the full PDF manual.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Helmet Exterior Cleaning
Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the shell finish and protective coatings.
6.2 Visor and Sun-Visor Cleaning
The EverClear shield and Speedview sun-visor should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap or a specialized helmet visor cleaner. Do not use paper towels or abrasive materials, which can scratch the surfaces. Allow to air dry.
6.3 Interior Liner Care
The KwikWick C liner system is removable and washable. Carefully detach the cheek pads and headliner from the helmet. Hand wash with mild soap and cool water, or machine wash on a gentle cycle in a laundry bag. Air dry completely before reinstalling. Ensure all components are correctly re-aligned when re-inserting.
6.4 EXO-COM Battery Charging
Charge the EXO-COM unit using the provided USB cable. Connect it to a compatible USB power source. A full charge typically takes 2.5 - 3.5 hours. The battery life is up to 15 hours under average conditions.
7. Troubleshooting
- Helmet feels too tight/loose: Re-verify your head circumference against the size guide. Ensure cheek pads are correctly seated.
- Wind noise is excessive: Ensure all vents are closed if not needed. Check that the chin bar is fully latched and the visor is completely closed. The included aero skirt (chin curtain) can help reduce wind noise.
- Visor fogging: Ensure the EverClear shield is clean. Utilize the first position of the mouth vent for defogging.
- EXO-COM not pairing: Ensure the unit is charged and in pairing mode. Restart both the EXO-COM and your mobile device. Clear previous Bluetooth pairings if necessary.
- EXO-COM audio quality is poor: Check speaker placement to ensure they are aligned with your ears. Adjust the graphic equalizer settings via the EXO-COM Mobile App. Ensure the microphone is positioned correctly.
- Liner detaches when removing helmet: Ensure all liner snaps and tabs are securely fastened during reinstallation.
- Peak visor screws loosen: Periodically check and tighten the peak visor attachment screws. Do not overtighten.
