Setup

Follow these steps for initial setup and installation of your GWN7664LR access point.

1. Mounting the Access Point:

The GWN7664LR is designed for outdoor wall or pole mounting. Choose a location that provides optimal Wi-Fi coverage and is protected from direct impact.

  1. Attach the mounting bracket to the desired surface (wall or pole) using the provided screws and anchors.
  2. Securely attach the GWN7664LR access point to the mounting bracket. Ensure it clicks into place.

2. Powering the Device:

The GWN7664LR supports Power over Ethernet (PoE/PoE+).

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE/PoE+ enabled switch or a PoE injector (not included) to the LAN/PoE port on the GWN7664LR.
  2. Ensure the PoE source provides sufficient power (48V DC, 0.5A or higher).
  3. The Power LED on the access point will illuminate once power is successfully applied.

3. Network Connection:

Connect the GWN7664LR to your network infrastructure.

  1. The Ethernet cable connected for PoE will also provide network connectivity.
  2. Ensure the network segment is configured correctly for the access point to obtain an IP address via DHCP or assign a static IP.

4. Initial Configuration:

Access the web interface for initial configuration.

  1. Connect a computer to the same network as the GWN7664LR.
  2. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the GWN7664LR (default is usually found via a discovery tool or DHCP client list).
  3. Log in using the default credentials (refer to the Quick Installation Guide for default username and password).
  4. Follow the on-screen wizard to set up Wi-Fi SSIDs, security settings, and administrative passwords.
