Setup
Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the underside of the scale.
- Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Placement
For accurate measurements, place the Hoffen KD-601 scale on a hard, flat, and level surface. Avoid placing it on soft, uneven, or vibrating surfaces, as this can affect accuracy.
Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
- To Power On: Press the 'Z/T ON/OFF' button. The display will show '8888' then '0.00' or '0' indicating it is ready for use.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the 'Z/T ON/OFF' button for approximately 3 seconds. The scale will also automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Unit Conversion
To change the measurement unit (e.g., grams, kilograms, pounds, ounces):
- With the scale powered on, press the 'UNIT' button repeatedly to cycle through the available units. The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD.
Tare Function
The Tare function allows you to weigh items in a container by subtracting the container's weight.
- Place an empty container on the weighing platform. The display will show the container's weight.
- Press the 'Z/T ON/OFF' button. The display will reset to '0', effectively taring out the container's weight.
- Place the items to be weighed into the container. The display will show only the net weight of the items.
Weighing Procedure
- Ensure the scale is on a flat, stable surface and powered on.
- If using a container, perform the Tare function as described above.
- Gently place the item(s) to be weighed onto the center of the weighing platform.
- Read the stable weight displayed on the LCD.
Indicators
- Low Battery Indicator: If the display shows 'Lo', the batteries are low and need to be replaced.
- Overload Indicator: If the display shows 'O-Ld', the scale is overloaded. Remove the item immediately to prevent damage.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the scale surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use chemical or abrasive cleaning agents.
- Storage: Store the scale in a cool, dry place. Avoid placing heavy objects on the scale when not in use.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the 'Lo' indicator appears to ensure consistent performance.
