1. General Safety Information
Please read this manual carefully before using the remote control. Keep this manual for future reference.
- This remote control is designed for use with CPVAN SM11R interconnected smoke detectors operating at 433 MHz. It is not compatible with independent smoke detectors.
- Do not expose the remote control to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Refer to qualified personnel for service.
- Keep out of reach of children.
2. Product Overview
The CPVAN remote control provides a convenient way to manage your interconnected SM11R smoke detector system. It allows for easy testing, pairing, and silencing of alarms without needing to physically reach each detector.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
- Slide open the battery cover.
- Insert one 23A 12V alkaline battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery cover securely.
3.2 Pairing with Smoke Detectors
This remote control is designed to be paired with the SM11R smoke detector system. Only one remote control can be paired with a single interconnected network of smoke detectors.
- Ensure your SM11R smoke detectors are powered on and within range.
- Press and hold the 'Pairing' button (the button with the signal icon) on the remote control until the indicator light flashes.
- While the remote is in pairing mode, activate the pairing mode on your SM11R smoke detectors according to their specific instructions (usually by pressing their test/silence button).
- Once successfully paired, the indicator light on the remote control will stop flashing, and the smoke detectors may emit a confirmation sound.
If you have multiple SM11R detectors, they should already be interconnected. The remote control pairs with the entire network, not individual detectors.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Testing Smoke Detectors
The remote control allows for convenient testing of your interconnected smoke detector system.
- Point the remote control towards any smoke detector in your network.
- Press the 'TEST/HUSH' button (the button with the speaker icon).
- All interconnected smoke detectors in the network should sound their alarm. This confirms that the network is functioning correctly.
- The alarms will automatically stop after a short period, or you can press the 'TEST/HUSH' button again to silence them.

4.2 Silencing Alarms (HUSH Function)
If an alarm is triggered by a non-emergency event (e.g., cooking smoke), you can use the HUSH function to temporarily silence the alarms.
- When an alarm sounds, press the 'TEST/HUSH' button on the remote control.
- All interconnected smoke detectors will silence, except for the one that initially detected the smoke. This feature helps you quickly identify the source of the alarm.
- The silenced alarms will automatically reset after a period if the smoke clears, or if the initial alarm source is resolved.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Replacement
Replace the battery when the remote control's indicator light does not illuminate or if the remote becomes unresponsive. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 3.1.
5.2 Cleaning
Wipe the remote control with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Remote control does not respond. | Low or dead battery. Incorrect battery installation. | Replace the battery (23A 12V). Ensure correct polarity. |
| Cannot pair the remote with smoke detectors. | Detectors are out of range. Detectors are not in pairing mode. Another remote is already paired. | Ensure detectors are within 110 meters. Verify detectors are in pairing mode. Only one remote can be paired per network. |
| Smoke detectors do not alarm when 'TEST' button is pressed. | Remote not paired. Detectors are not interconnected or faulty. | Re-pair the remote control. Check the status of individual smoke detectors. |
| 'HUSH' function does not silence all alarms. | This is normal behavior; the initiating alarm remains active to indicate the source. | No action required. This is by design to help locate the fire risk. |
