3. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Stand Assembly

4.2 Power Connection

Connect the sharpener to a 12V DC battery (not included). The unit is designed to connect to automotive-style batteries, such as those found on sawmills, trucks, or tractors, capable of maintaining a 10-amp load. Ensure correct polarity when connecting the battery terminals.

4.3 Blade Installation

Carefully install the bandsaw blade onto the sharpener. The blade should rest on the smooth ride blade support arms and rollers, ensuring proper alignment with the grinding wheel. The index arm should engage with the blade teeth.

4.4 Grinding Wheel Installation

Install the 5" grinding wheel onto the sharpener's motor shaft. Ensure it is securely fastened. The sharpener includes a 10°/30° blade profile cam, suitable for sharpening 10-degree sawmill blades with 7/8" tooth spacing. Additional profile cams may be available separately for other blade types.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Control Panel Overview

The BMS25 features an easy-to-use control panel with auto and jog control switches. The auto control switch automatically advances the blade for sharpening, while the jog control switch allows for manual blade advancement, useful for initial setup and precise positioning.

5.2 Sharpening Process

Once the blade is properly installed and the unit is powered, select the auto mode on the control panel. The sharpener will automatically advance the blade, and the grinding wheel will sharpen the face and gullet of each tooth. The BMS25 can sharpen blades at a rate of up to 30 teeth per minute, significantly reducing sharpening time.

5.3 Grinding Wheel Shaping

Use the included wheel shaping tool to maintain the correct profile of the 5" grinding wheel. Regular shaping ensures optimal sharpening performance and extends the life of the grinding wheel.
