4. Setup
4.1 Initial Charging
Before first use, ensure both the transmitter and receiver are fully charged using the provided DJI Mic Splitter Charging Cable. Connect the USB-A end to a power source and the two USB-C ends to the transmitter and receiver.
4.2 Powering On/Off
To power on or off, press and hold the power button on both the transmitter and receiver for a few seconds until the indicator lights or OLED screen activates/deactivates.
4.3 Connecting to Devices
- To Smartphones: Attach the appropriate Mobile Phone Adapter (Lightning for iPhone or Type-C for Android) to the receiver. Plug the adapter into your smartphone's charging port.
- To Cameras: Use the DJI Mic Camera Audio Cable (3.5mm TRS). Connect one end to the receiver's OUT port and the other end to your camera's microphone input. Secure the receiver to your camera's hot shoe using the DJI Mic Hot Shoe Adapter.
- To PCs/Laptops: Use the USB-C Mobile Phone Adapter or a standard USB-C cable to connect the receiver to your computer's USB-C port.
4.4 Attaching the Transmitter
- Clip-on: Use the integrated clip to attach the transmitter directly to clothing.
- Magnetic: For discreet placement, use the DJI Mic Clip Magnet. Place the magnet behind your clothing and the transmitter on the outside, allowing the magnet to hold it securely.
- Windscreen: Attach the DJI Mic Windscreen to the transmitter's microphone input when recording in windy conditions to minimize noise.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Monitoring Audio
The receiver's OLED touchscreen displays real-time audio levels, battery status, and other essential information. You can adjust settings such as brightness and volume directly from this screen.
5.2 Internal Recording
The transmitter has an internal recording function. Press the 'REC' button on the transmitter to start/stop internal recording. This provides a backup audio track or allows for standalone recording without the receiver.
5.3 Adjusting Gain Levels
Monitor audio levels on the receiver's screen. If audio is too low or too high (clipping), adjust the gain settings on the receiver or your connected recording device to achieve optimal sound quality.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the devices. Avoid using liquids or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the DJI Mic system in its storage bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: For long-term storage, charge the batteries to approximately 50-60% every three months to maintain battery health.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Audio/Low Volume:
- Ensure both transmitter and receiver are powered on and paired.
- Check all cable connections.
- Adjust gain levels on the receiver and your recording device.
- Verify the correct adapter is used for your device.
- Interference/Poor Signal:
- Ensure line of sight between transmitter and receiver.
- Avoid environments with strong electromagnetic interference.
- Stay within the recommended 250m transmission range.
- Battery Not Charging:
- Check the charging cable and power source.
- Ensure the charging cable is securely connected to both devices.
