Setup

1. Charging the Tablet

Before first use, fully charge the tablet. Connect the USB charging cable to the tablet's charging port and the other end to the power adapter. Plug the adapter into a wall outlet. The charging indicator will show the charging status. A full charge typically takes approximately 3-4 hours.

2. Powering On/Off

To power on, press and hold the power button located on the side of the tablet until the screen lights up. To power off, press and hold the power button, then select "Power off" from the options that appear on the screen.

3. Initial Setup Wizard

Upon first power-on, the tablet will guide you through an initial setup wizard. Follow the on-screen prompts to:

  • Select your language.
  • Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  • Sign in with your Google account or create a new one.
  • Set up screen lock (PIN, pattern, or password).
  • Review and accept terms and conditions.

4. Inserting a SIM Card (for LTE models)

The Astro 8R supports LTE connectivity. To insert a SIM card:

  1. Locate the SIM card tray on the side of the tablet.
  2. Use the provided SIM ejector tool to open the tray.
  3. Place the Nano-SIM card into the tray with the gold contacts facing down, ensuring it is correctly oriented.
  4. Gently push the tray back into the tablet until it clicks into place.

5. Inserting a MicroSD Card (Optional)

To expand storage, insert a MicroSD card into the designated slot, usually located near the SIM card tray. Ensure the card is correctly oriented before gently pushing it in until it locks.

Operating the Tablet

Navigation and Gestures

  • Tap: Select an item or open an application.
  • Swipe: Scroll through screens, menus, or web pages.
  • Pinch-to-Zoom: Enlarge or reduce images and web content.
  • Long Press: Access contextual menus or move icons.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

  1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi.
  2. Toggle Wi-Fi on.
  3. Select your desired network from the list and enter the password if prompted.

Using Mobile Data (LTE)

Ensure a valid SIM card is inserted. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network. Ensure "Mobile data" is enabled. You may need to configure APN settings based on your carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.).

Downloading Applications

Applications can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Tap the "Play Store" icon on your home screen or app drawer, search for the desired app, and tap "Install".

Camera Functionality

The tablet features a 5 MP rear camera. Open the "Camera" application to capture photos and videos. Tap the screen to focus and the shutter button to take a picture.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Tablet

Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen and body of the tablet. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid exposing the tablet to extreme temperatures. It is recommended to keep the battery charge between 20% and 80% for optimal longevity. Avoid completely draining the battery frequently.

Software Updates
