Setup

1. Charging the Radios and Earpieces

Ensure both the RB89 walkie-talkies and wireless earpieces are fully charged before initial use.

  • Walkie-Talkie: Place the radio in its dedicated USB charging base. The 2600mAh battery provides approximately 17-18 hours of continuous use. A low battery alarm will indicate when charging is needed.
  • Wireless Earpiece: Connect the earpiece to a power source using the provided Type-C charging cable. The 180mAh battery offers about 12 hours of continuous use.

2. Pairing the Wireless Earpiece

To pair the wireless earpiece with your RB89 radio:

  1. With the walkie-talkie powered off, press and hold the side PF2 key and the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button simultaneously to turn on the walkie-talkie. The Bluetooth icon on the screen will flash, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  2. With the wireless earpiece powered off, press and hold its power on/off button for 5 seconds. The red and blue lights on the earpiece will flash alternately, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  3. Once successfully paired, the wireless icon on the walkie-talkie screen will stop flashing and remain steady. The earpiece will prompt 'connected', and its blue light will flash slowly.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off and Channel Selection

To power on or off the radio, rotate the top knob. The RB89 features 30 channels. Use the channel up/down buttons on the side to select your desired channel. The shatterproof active view LED display will show the channel name, remaining battery, and wireless VOX transmission status.

2. VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange)

The VOX function allows for hands-free communication. To activate or adjust VOX:

  • Long press the PF1 button to turn VOX on or off.
  • Once VOX is enabled, long press PF1 again to adjust the VOX level from 1 to 9. Select a level that suits your ambient noise environment for optimal performance.

3. Adjusting Power Levels

  • Press and hold PF1 + PTT to change the power setting. After hearing a series of beeps, the radio will switch between standard and high power modes. High power provides coverage up to 700,000 sq.ft/50 floors.

4. Automatic Reconnection Function

The RB89 improves wireless connection stability with an automatic reconnection function. If the connection between the wireless earpiece and walkie-talkie is lost, it will automatically attempt to re-establish the connection. This function increases the communication range between the wireless earpiece and walkie-talkie in open areas to 10 meters.
