Setup and Fitting

Proper helmet fit is crucial for safety and comfort. Follow these steps to ensure your helmet fits correctly:

  1. Measure Your Head: Use a cloth measuring tape to measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows and around the largest part of your head.
  2. Try On the Helmet:
    • Grasp the chin straps and pull the helmet firmly onto your head. It should feel snug all around, with even pressure.
    • The top pad should press firmly on your head.
    • Your cheeks should be compressed by the cheek pads.
    • There should be no excessive space around your temples or forehead.
  3. Check for Movement: With the chin strap fastened, try to move the helmet from side to side and up and down. Your skin should move with the helmet, and the helmet should not slide independently.
  4. Vision Check: Ensure your vision is not obstructed. The top edge of the eye port should be just above your eyebrows.
  5. Chin Strap: Secure the double D-ring chin strap. Pull the strap tight so it presses against your throat. There should be no slack, and it should not be possible to roll the helmet off your head.

If the helmet feels loose or moves excessively, try a smaller size. If it causes pressure points or discomfort, try a larger size.

Operating Instructions

Visor Operation

The HJ-34P shield can be opened and closed with one hand. It features a ratchet mechanism to hold it in various open positions. To open, gently push the shield upwards. To close, pull it downwards until it latches securely.

Visor Removal/Installation:

Refer to the quick-release mechanism on the side of the helmet for visor removal and installation. Typically, this involves pressing a release button or lever and rotating the visor to detach it. Reverse the process for installation, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

Ventilation System

The HJC C10 features adjustable intake and exhaust vents to control airflow:

  • Front Vents: Located on the chin bar and forehead. Slide the levers to open or close these vents to allow fresh air intake.
  • Rear Exhaust Vents: Located at the back of the helmet. These vents help draw warm, moist air out. Ensure they are clear of obstructions.

Adjust the vents according to riding conditions to maintain comfort and minimize fogging.

Maintenance and Care

Helmet Exterior Cleaning

  • Use a soft cloth and mild soap with lukewarm water.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the shell's finish or protective coatings.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, clean cloth.

Visor Cleaning

  • Remove the visor from the helmet.
  • Wash with mild soap and lukewarm water.
  • Gently wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not scrub, especially if it has an anti-scratch or anti-fog coating.
  • Allow to air dry or gently blot with a microfiber cloth.

Interior Liner Cleaning

The crown and cheek pads are removable and washable.

  1. Carefully remove the crown pad and cheek pads.
  2. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent.
  3. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before re-installing. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Storage

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a helmet bag to protect it from scratches and dust.

Troubleshooting

Fogging Visor

  • Ensure all vents are open to maximize airflow.
  • Slightly crack open the visor to allow air circulation.
  • Consider installing a Pinlock anti-fog insert (sold separately) for enhanced fog resistance.
  • Apply an anti-fog treatment to the inside of the visor.

Helmet Feels Too Tight/Loose

  • Too Tight: If there are painful pressure points, the helmet may be too small. Ensure cheek pads are properly seated. The interior will break in slightly over time.
  • Too Loose: If the helmet moves freely on your head or can be rolled off, it is too large and will not provide adequate protection. A smaller size is required.

Excessive Wind Noise

  • Ensure the visor is fully closed and sealed.
  • Check that all vents are closed if you prefer less airflow and noise.
  • A properly fitted helmet reduces wind noise.
