Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
- Place the R2 MK4 on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Position the system away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.
2. Antenna Connection
- Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal FM and DAB reception.
- For best results, adjust the antenna's position to minimize interference.

3. Power Connection
- Connect the supplied power adapter to the DC input port on the rear of the unit.
- Plug the power adapter into a suitable wall outlet.
4. Initial Power On and Network Setup
- Press the power button on the top control dial to turn on the unit.
- Follow the on-screen prompts on the LCD display to select your language and connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password using the control dial.
Operating Instructions
1. Control Dial Overview
The R2 MK4 features an intuitive RotoDial control system on the top panel for easy navigation and selection.

- Rotate: Turn to scroll through menus or adjust volume.
- Press: Press the center of the dial to confirm selections.
- Mode Button: Cycles through available audio sources (FM, Internet Radio, Bluetooth, USB-C, Auxiliary).
- Menu Button: Accesses system settings and options.
- Play/Pause, Skip: Control media playback.
2. Selecting Audio Sources
- Press the MODE button to cycle through the available input sources.
- The current source will be displayed on the LCD screen.
3. Internet Radio
- Select "Internet Radio" from the mode menu.
- Browse stations by location, genre, or search for specific stations.
- Save your favorite stations as presets for quick access.
4. FM Radio
- Select "FM Radio" from the mode menu.
- Use the RotoDial to tune to desired frequencies or perform an auto-scan for available stations.
- Save preferred stations as presets.
5. Bluetooth Connectivity
- Select "Bluetooth" from the mode menu. The R2 MK4 will enter pairing mode.
- On your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), enable Bluetooth and search for "Ruark R2 MK4".
- Select the R2 MK4 to pair. Once connected, audio from your device will play through the system.
6. USB-C Playback and Charging
- Connect a USB-C storage device containing audio files to the USB-C port on the rear.
- Select "USB-C" from the mode menu to browse and play files.
- The USB-C port can also be used to charge compatible devices.
7. Headphone Output
- Connect headphones to the 3.5mm headphone jack on the rear of the unit.
- Audio will automatically switch from the speakers to the headphones.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Always disconnect the power before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
- For the wooden grille, use a slightly damp cloth if necessary, then dry immediately.
2. Software Updates
- Periodically check for firmware updates via the system's menu settings to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
- Ensure a stable internet connection during updates. Do not power off the unit during an update.
