5. Installation
Proper measurement and installation are crucial for optimal performance. Refer to the diagrams and video below for guidance.
5.1. Measurement Guidelines
You may choose either an inside mount or an outside mount based on your window type and preference.
Inside Mount:
- The window frame depth should be at least 2 inches (≥ 2").
- Order width should be 1/4" less than the actual window width.
- Order height should be equal to the window height (≤ 72").
Outside Mount:
- Order width should be at least 4" longer than the actual window width.
- Order height should be at least 4" longer than the actual window height (≤ 72").
The height of the automatic blinds can be adjusted from 0" to 72" regardless of the mounting type.

Figure 5.1: Diagram illustrating measurement guidelines for both inside and outside window mounts. For inside mount, measure the shortest width and longest height within the window frame. For outside mount, add 4 inches to both the window width and height for optimal coverage.

7. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and appearance of your blinds, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Spot clean only. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap and water for any stains. Do not immerse the fabric or motor in water.
- Battery Replacement: The motor is battery-operated. Replace batteries as needed to maintain optimal performance. (Note: The product description mentions 'battery operated unit' and 'no more battery fussing' with solar panels, but the current product doesn't explicitly state solar panels are included. Assume standard battery replacement for the motor.)
- Fabric Care: The upgraded grasscloth fabric is designed for durability and color retention. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning materials.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your motorized blinds, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Blinds not responding to remote:
- Check if the remote control batteries need replacement.
- Ensure the remote is within the operating range (typically ≤ 30m).
- Verify that the blinds are powered on.
- Motor noise is excessive:
- The motor is designed to be quiet (under 35dB). If noise is unusually loud, check for any obstructions in the roller mechanism.
- Ensure the blinds are installed correctly and not rubbing against the window frame.
- Blinds not moving smoothly:
- Inspect the fabric for any tears or damage that might impede movement.
- Check the top rail and bottom bar for any obstructions.
- Smart home integration issues:
- Ensure your smart hub is properly connected and configured.
- Refer to your smart hub's instruction manual for specific pairing and connectivity steps.
- Verify internet connectivity for both the smart hub and your smart home devices.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact CITOLEN customer support for further assistance.
