Setup
1. Battery Installation
Batteries are not included and must be purchased separately. Ensure you use fresh, high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance.
- WS-9160UV3 Digital Thermometer: Requires 2 AA batteries. Open the battery compartment on the back of the unit and insert batteries according to the polarity markings (+/-).
- 308-1417 Forecast Station: Requires 2 AA batteries. Open the battery compartment on the back of the unit and insert batteries according to the polarity markings (+/-).
- TX141-Bv3 Wireless Temperature Sensor: Requires 2 AA batteries. Open the battery compartment and insert batteries, observing polarity.
- TX141TH-BV2 Wireless Temperature/Humidity Sensor: Requires 2 AA batteries. Open the battery compartment and insert batteries, observing polarity.
Note: Always install batteries in the main units first, then in the sensors, to ensure proper synchronization.
2. Sensor Placement
Proper placement of the outdoor sensors is crucial for accurate readings and reliable wireless transmission.
- Place the outdoor sensor in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can cause inaccurate temperature readings.
- Ensure the sensor is protected from direct rain and snow. While weather-resistant, prolonged exposure to harsh elements can affect its lifespan.
- Mount the sensor vertically, approximately 5-6 feet (1.5-1.8 meters) above the ground.
- Maintain a clear line of sight between the outdoor sensor and the indoor display units to maximize transmission range. Avoid placing near large metal objects, thick walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

3. Initial Synchronization
After installing batteries, the units will automatically attempt to synchronize with their respective sensors. This process may take a few minutes. If synchronization fails:
- Bring the sensor closer to the main unit.
- Remove batteries from both the main unit and the sensor. Wait 60 seconds.
- Reinsert batteries into the main unit first, then the sensor.
- Press the "Sensor" button on the WS-9160UV3 or the "Search" button (if available) on the 308-1417 to manually initiate a sensor search.
Operating Instructions
WS-9160UV3 Digital Thermometer
- Time Display: The time is displayed in either 12-hour (AM/PM) or 24-hour format. Use the "SET" button to toggle or adjust.
- Temperature Display: Indoor and outdoor temperatures are shown in Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C). Press the "°F/°C" button to switch between units.
- MIN/MAX Readings: Press the "MIN/MAX" button to view the minimum and maximum recorded indoor and outdoor temperatures. Press again to cycle through the values. To clear, hold the "MIN/MAX" button.

308-1417 Forecast Station
- Forecast Icons: The display shows dynamic forecast icons (e.g., sunny, partly cloudy, rainy) based on barometric pressure changes. These are predictions and may not always match official forecasts.
- Barometric Pressure: Displays current relative pressure and a history graph showing pressure trends over the last 24 hours. This helps indicate approaching weather changes.
- Indoor/Outdoor Temperature & Humidity: Shows current indoor and outdoor temperature (°F/°C) and humidity (%).
- Atomic Time & Calendar: The unit automatically sets its time via atomic clock signal and updates for DST. The calendar displays the full weekday or abbreviated weekday with month and date.

Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both main units and sensors when the low battery indicator appears on the display. It is recommended to replace all batteries annually, even if not depleted, to ensure consistent performance. Always replace sensor batteries first, then main unit batteries.
- Cleaning: Wipe the display units and sensors with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the plastic and electronic components.
- Sensor Protection: While the outdoor sensors are weather-resistant, extreme conditions can affect them. Consider placing the sensor in a protective enclosure (e.g., a weather-proof box) if exposed to severe weather.
