4. Setup and Installation
Installation of this electric water heater requires plumbing and electrical expertise. It is strongly recommended that installation be performed by a qualified and licensed professional to ensure safety and compliance with local codes.
4.1. Pre-Installation Checks
- Verify that the installation location can support the weight of the water heater when full (approximately 81 kg for 60L capacity + unit weight).
- Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for maintenance and ventilation.
- Confirm that the electrical supply (1800 Volts, 1800 Watts) is appropriate and a dedicated circuit is available.
- Inspect the unit for any visible damage before installation.
4.2. Mounting the Unit
- Mark the mounting points on the wall according to the unit's dimensions (45W x 72H centimeters).
- Securely fasten the mounting bracket(s) to a sturdy wall structure using appropriate hardware.
- Carefully lift and hang the water heater onto the mounted bracket(s).
4.3. Plumbing Connections
- Connect the cold water inlet to the designated port on the water heater.
- Connect the hot water outlet to your household hot water system.
- Install a temperature and pressure relief (T&P) valve in the designated opening, ensuring it is properly piped to an open drain.
- Open the cold water supply valve and allow the tank to fill completely, bleeding air from hot water faucets until water flows steadily.
- Check all connections for leaks.
4.4. Electrical Connections
- Ensure the main power supply is OFF at the circuit breaker.
- Connect the water heater to a grounded electrical outlet or dedicated circuit as per local electrical codes.
- Verify all electrical connections are secure and properly insulated.
5. Operating Instructions
Once installed and filled with water, your TORNADO Electric Water Heater is ready for operation.
5.1. Initial Power-Up
- Ensure the water heater tank is completely full of water.
- Turn ON the electrical power supply to the water heater at the circuit breaker.
- The LED display on the control panel will illuminate, showing the current water temperature or a default setting.
5.2. Setting Water Temperature
- Use the Up and Down arrow buttons on the control panel to adjust the desired water temperature.
- The LED display will show the set temperature. The heating element will activate to reach this temperature.
- The LED indicator lamp will illuminate when the heating element is active. It will turn off once the set temperature is reached.
- Caution: Setting the temperature too high can cause severe burns. A temperature of 49°C (120°F) is generally recommended for household use to prevent scalding.
5.3. Power Indicator
- The LED lamp indicates when the heating element is actively heating the water.
- When the lamp is OFF, the water has reached the set temperature, or the unit is in standby.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your water heater. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
6.1. Annual Flush
- To remove sediment buildup, drain and flush the water heater tank annually.
- Turn off the power supply and cold water inlet.
- Connect a hose to the drain valve and open the valve. Open a hot water faucet in the house to allow air into the tank.
- Once drained, open the cold water inlet briefly to stir up sediment, then drain again.
- Close the drain valve, remove the hose, and refill the tank before restoring power.
6.2. T&P Valve Check
- Test the temperature and pressure relief (T&P) valve at least once a year by lifting the lever. Water should discharge from the drain pipe.
- If no water discharges, or if the valve does not reseat properly, replace it immediately.
6.3. Anode Rod Inspection
- The anode rod protects the tank from corrosion. It should be inspected every 3-5 years and replaced if significantly depleted. This task is best performed by a qualified technician.
7. Troubleshooting
Before attempting any repairs, ensure the power supply to the water heater is disconnected.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
